The Stringybark Creek Murders

With a reward of $100 offered for the capture of either Ned or Dan Kelly, two groups of police, disguised as prospectors, set out for the rugged mountain area south of Greta.

On Friday, 25 October, 1878, the two Kellys with two friends killed three of the four police who had set out from Mansfield. This was one of the blackest days in Australian criminal history.

Because of this the gang could now be shot on sight.

Despite a large police search and a $2000 reward, the Kelly Gang were not captured.

Can you do any better?
