Operation Herkules
---------------------------------------------
In the Game Manual, Operation Herkules is incorrectly identified as
Operation Mercury.

The original plan for this campaign was to recreate the historical
invasion of Crete, Operation Mercury. However, in the process of
doing research for a related game, we thought it would be much more
entertaining to create the hypothetical invasion of Malta - Operation
Herkules. Unfortunately, we went to press with the old title of
Mercury in place with the description and game campaign of Herkules
in place...

We hope you enjoy the campaign as much as we did making it.

Miscellaneous Bits / Game
---------------------------------------------
For increased game performance and speed, leave off range circles and
other peripheral filters.

When you select "smoke" for your task force, you will not see a
graphical representation of the smoke (it slows down the game), but
the effects do take place.

Torpedo Caveats
---------------------------------------------
If you attempt to manually calculate a torpedo shot but there is no
solution possible (i.e. there is no chance of any torpedo shot reaching
the intended target), the COMPUTE button will create a bogus firing angle
and fire the torpedo off in a random direction. It's best to look at it as
the crew, not knowing where to fire, decided to tie one on (a bug patch
will shortly be available that will give you a text message stating that
no angle is possible).

Remember that using torpedoes is similar to firing a cannon underwater;
your chances of hitting targets is usually mild at best. The closer
you are to your desired target, as well as the speed at which both the
target and firing ships are moving will influence your targeting
effectiveness. Hey - they ain't Photon torpedoes.

Miscellaneous Bits / Scenario Editor
---------------------------------------------
Historically, the European theater did not sport many seaplanes, and
search planes were used predominantly over land targets. When
creating your own scenarios, remember that if you have too many planes
in the air at any given time, the game will most likely slow down in
its performance.

If you build an invasion task force in the scenario editor and hope
for it to set out and capture an enemy base, you must place your
troops on transports and place them in the water rather than at the
docks. Troops have a tendency to protect their home bases unless
forced to choose other options.

If you create a scenario with more than 50 ships per side, the game
engine many overload and crash, depending on your system configuration.
To prevent this from happening don't create scenarios with more than
50 ships per side.

Scenarios are listed within the game by any description given them.
Before saving a scenario you create using the editor, write a brief
description in the Scenario Description screen.
