PLAYING ALIEN INCIDENT UNDER WINDOWS'95

The game works only in MS-DOS mode. To run the game
you have to:

Reboot your machine to MS-DOS-mode. Change to
your game directory and type AI <enter>.

If this fails to work, follow the instructions below.

If game aborts with error messages like: CD not
found, no EMS, not enough base memory etc. you
will have to create a custom shortcut for it:

    - Copy the sample shortcut "AI.PIF" from CD to
your Windows Desktop. To do this, you must double-click
the "My Computer" icon, then double-click your CD-ROM drive icon,
open the folder named PIF and drag-and-drop the AI icon to your
      Windows Desktop.

    - Edit the properties of the Shortcut to AI icon to suit
the configurations of your computer's CD-rom, mouse
and soundcard. Click the Shortcut icon with the right
mouse button. Select "properties" and a new window
appears. "Read-only" box at the bottom of the window
contains a tick. Click the box to remove it. Click the
"Program" tab. Click the "Advanced..." button and yet
another window opens. Now you will be able to modify the
      settings.

Edit the "CONFIG.SYS for MS-DOS mode" field:

+ Check that the directory paths (by default, c:\dos, c:\windows, etc.)
match those of your computer's installation.

+ Change the CD-ROM driver to match your installation.
The line should look by default like this:
         "devicehigh=c:\cdromdrv\cdmke410.sys /D:mycd /N:1"
You must find out yourself the location of your CD-driver and
what parameters are necessary. You may also have to consult
         your CD-ROM-drive's and/or computer's manual.

Edit the "AUTOEXEC.BAT for MS-DOS mode" field:

+ Check that the directory paths (by default, c:\dos, c:\windows, etc.)
match those of your computer's installation.

+ Set the correct environment variable for your
soundcard if necessary. Again, consult your soundcard
manual. Sample lines for SoundBlaster and Gravis Ultrasound are included but
disabled with the "rem" command. To enable either of these soundcards,
simply remove the "rem" command from the beginning of the line.

+ Check the mscdex initialization line. Sample line looks
         like this: "lh c:\cdrom\mscdex /D:mycd".
Make sure the device name parameter ("mycd" in the example)
is exactly the same as in the CD-ROM-driver initialization
in the config.sys field (see above).

+ Make sure that a mouse driver is configured. Locate your mouse driver and
include its command line in the field, for example, "lh c:\mouse\mouse".
(NOTE: In some systems the mouse-driver must be loaded from "CONFIG.SYS".)
Consult your computer's manual for more specific information.

    - Close the "Advanced Program Settings" window by clicking
"OK" button. Click "OK" button to close "AI properties"
      window.

    - Double-click the AI shortcut. The machine switches to the MS-DOS
mode. Change to your game directory. That would be to type
"CD GAMES\AI" and press enter if you have not changed the
default directory in the game installation. Type AI
and press enter to start the game.

Next time you start the game you just have to double-click the AI
      shortcut on your desktop.

We hope you will enjoy playing Alien Incident!
