HOW TO PLAY

To run the game, change into the directory in which it is stored and then
type 'at' and press enter.
  Make sure you have at least 2Mb of EMS memory available before you run
the program. To make this memory available you should have a line similar to
the one below in your 'config.sys' file.

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE 2048

  If you have a Sound Blaster compatible card, which the program recognizes,
it will be automatically initialized when you run the program. If you have a
joystick attached, the program will get you to calibrate it (press Escape if
you want to skip this). You may have problems using some types of joystick
with the game, in which case you should also press Escape to skip the
calibration and then use the keyboard instead.
  Win95 users - This program can be run under Win95, however you may suffer
a decrease in the performance of the game and sound quality.
  From the title screen you can start a new game or load a saved one, or
go to the options screen to change the skill level or redefine the keys.
Use the cursor and enter keys to navigate through the menus.
  In each of the first three scenarios you have at least 10 missions to
complete. A number of enemy targets must be destroyed in each, the number
remaining is shown near the bottom of your screen. There is also a damage
bar, radar and compass at the bottom of the screen, F5 & F6 turn these
displays on or off. The radar shows the mission area and all large objects
within it. Your tank is shown as a yellow dot. Green dots are vegetation, red
represent enemy vehicles or guns and white marks show walls and buildings.
Each mission takes place within a limited area, you can not move beyond the
edge of this area. Your own gun and the enemy guns also have a limited range.
  The final scenario called 'Combat Unlimited' is a test of your tank battle
skills. You are attacked by up ten tanks at once and must destroy as many
as possible be you are destroyed yourself. For every enemy tank that you
destroy one more will come into the zone from one of the corners. The number
of enemy tanks destroyed is displayed at the bottom of your screen in place
of the normal targets counter.

  Your view is from outside your tank and can be adjusted as follows:
+,-  =  zoom in,out
F1   =  select forward view
F2 = (default view) select view looking along the turret gun
F3   =  select above view
  The default keys to control your tank are:
cursor keys = move forward,backwards or turn
<,> = rotate turret left or right
m = hold to centre turret
spacebar    =  fire
  The tank can also be controlled by joystick at any time.
Move the stick forward or back to go forward/reverse.
Move the stick left or right to turn.
Button 1 fires.
To turn the turret only, hold down Button 2 and push the stick left or right.
Holding down both buttons centres the turret forward.

Pressing 'P' during a game saves out a pcx screenshot called 'screen.pcx'
into the data directory.

Slow Machines: To get the best frame rate turn off the displays with F6 and
               zoom out your view.

gameplay tip: You must use your turret to fire at enemies so that you
are not driving directly towards them and can avoid their fire better.
