             INSTRUCTIONS FOR MS-DOS, WINDOWS 3.1 AND WINDOWS 95
                      INFOCOM GAMES AND ACTIVISION DEMOS

All GAMES AND THEIR DIRECTORIES ARE LISTED BELOW.

The games should be installed on to your hard disk.  All games run in MS-DOS
mode even if you installed them in Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.  PLEASE NOTE:
TO SAVE YOUR GAME IN WINDOWS 3.1 AND WINDOWS 95, YOU MUST FIRST SAVE
(BE SURE TO GIVE IT A NEW NAME) AND QUIT WITHIN THE GAME.  ONCE OUT OF
THE GAME, FOLLOW THE ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS TO CLOSE THE WINDOW PROPERLY.

TO PLAY THE GAMES:

    MS-DOS:         At C:\> type in CD INFOCOM then press ENTER.  This gets
                    you into the INFOCOM directory (C:\Infocom>).  Then type
                    CD and the name of the directory of the game you want to
                    access (games are listed below).  Press ENTER.  Type
                    the name of the game file (usually the same as the
                    directory).  Press ENTER.
     
    WINDOWS 3.1:    Open the INFOCOM group icon.  DOUBLE-CLICK on the game
                    folder you want (listed below).  DOUBLE-CLICK on the
                    program file (usually the one with capitalized game name).

    WINDOWS 95:     From the START menu, choose PROGRAMS then 
		    select the INFOCOM program group.
                    CLICK on the game you want to play (games
                    listed below).

 WINDOWS 3.1  Open File Manager.  Find and then open the INFOCOM folder.
              Open the WINNERS folder.  DOUBLE-CLICK on the game that
	      you wish to play.

 WINDOWS 95   From the START menu, choose RUN.  Select BROWSE and use
              Find in: to open the hard drive.  DOUBLE-CLICK on the
              INFOCOM folder.  DOUBLE-CLICK on the WINNERS folder.
              DOUBLE-CLICK on the game you want to play.         
                                              
VERYLOST directory contains special surprises from the the vaults
of Infocom.
 
  MS-DOS       C:\INFOCOM\VERYLOST> then type EDIT ABOUT.TXT

  WINDOWS 3.1  Open File Manager.  Find and open the INFOCOM folder.
               Open the VERYLOST folder.  DOUBLE-CLICK on ABOUT.TXT.
  
  WINDOWS 95   In the START menu, choose MS-DOS PROMPT. At the C:\> type
               CD INFOCOM\VERYLOST.  Press ENTER.  Type EDIT ABOUT.TXT.

                   ACROBAT READER (MANUALS AND MAPS)
=============================================================================

Please note that you cannot play the games from within Acrobat Reader.
To play the games, print any documentation that you might need and
quit Acrobat reader. Follow the instructions from the system for playing
your games.

When running Acrobat Reader for DOS, make sure that you have 3 MB
hard drive space(after installation) for Adobe Acrobat reader to use
for a temporary file.  If you receive error messages while running Acrobat
for MS-DOS, try deleting some files from your hard drive.

                            UNINSTALL

To uninstall INFOCOM MASTERPIECES -

 MS-DOS:         At the DOS prompt (C:\>) type DELTREE INFOCOM.
                 Press ENTER. (To be sure you are in the root directory,
                 at the prompt first type CD\.  Press ENTER.)
          
 WINDOWS 3.1:    Open the INFOCOM group window.  DOUBLE-CLICK on the
                 UNINSTALL icon.

 WINDOWS 95:     In START menu, choose PROGRAMS.  Choose INFOCOM then
                 UNINSTALL.

An IBM-PC or 100% Compatible

Double-speed CD-ROM drive (300K/bps sustained transfer rate)
8 Megabytes of RAM
22 Megabytes of Hard Disk Space for the MechWarrior 2 Demo
8 Megabytes of Hard Disk Space for the Zork Nemesis Demo
8-bit Sound Blaster-compatible sound card for MechWarrior 2 Demo
16-bit Sound Blaster-16 compatible sound card for Zork Nemesis Demo
VESA Local Bus or PCI Video
A monitor capable of displaying SVGA Graphics

To play the movie files for BlastChamber, HyperBlade, Mercenaries, Planetfall
and Spycraft, open the appropriate folder and double-click on the enclosed
files.  You will need a movie player that is capable of playing AVI files.

To Play the MechWarrior 2 demo, exit to MS-DOS.  Change to your CD-ROM Drive
and then change the directory to PCDEMOS\MECH2. Type INSTALL and press ENTER.
To play the demo change to directory C:\MECH2> and type MW2DEMO.EXE.

To Play the Zork Nemesis demo for Windows 95, Open MY COMPUTER, select
your CD-ROM Drive, open the PCDEMOS Folder. Next, open the
NEMDEMO folder and DOUBLE-CLICK on SETUP.EXE.

To install the Zork Nemesis demo for MS-DOS, change to your
CD-ROM drive then change to the PCDEMOS\NEMDEMO\DOS directory and type
INSTALL.  To play the demo, open C:\NEMDOMO> and type ZORKDOS.EXE.
