MANUAL LAST MINUTE UPDATES!
---------------------------

This ReadME.TXT contains essential information - that has been
included in the final version of this CD-ROM - after the manual
has been printed. Please read the instructions here carefully
- in order to have a successful start-up of your new
Hugo CD-ROM adventures - without any problems.

About installing the game under Windows
---------------------------------------

When installing the game under Windows, use the INSTALLW.EXE program
instead of INSTALL.EXE, which is for DOS-installation.

Sound setup program
-------------------

When the game installs, the sound setup program will be started.
It will attempt to autodetect your sound hardware. If it can not
find your sound card, you must try to set it up manually. Later,
you can change these settings by running SNDSETUP.EXE.

About running the game under Windows
------------------------------------

In general, if you are having trouble running the game under Windows,
you should try running it under DOS. If you have Windows 3.1 - exit
with Alt+F4 - until you see the DOS prompt. If you are using Windows
95, simply select Start, Shut Down, Restart in MS-DOS mode. You can
also press F8 when Windows 95 is booting up and select MS-DOS prompt.

About running the game under DOS
--------------------------------

By default, the game will generate a swapfile on the harddisk, where
you installed Hugo. This swapfile will be used if necessary (mostly
if you have very little memory free in your computer).

If you start the game by adding -NOSWAP to the command line. Just
write:

         HUGO -NOSWAP

The game will never swap to disk for additional memory. Note that if
you do that, you might not have enough memory for running the game.
You should only use this option if the game, for some reason, is
unstable on your system.

Joystick support
----------------

Joystick support has been added. In the setup-menu, you can choose to
calibrate the joystick if you find it necessary.

Two levels of playing
---------------------

From the setup-menu, you can choose to play an Arcade-version (for
skilled players) or the TV-version (as seen on TV) of each game.

End-Scenes/Story selection
--------------------------

Before you play any scenery, you can select if you want the story to
have special openings or endings. This is done in the Setup Menu (F5).
The special scenes includes Hexana and Hugolines capture, the 3 rope
end-scene for the rescue or if you want to select the new exciting 3
Key End Scene where Hugo can win a coffin full of gold. These are only
accesible if you pass the obstacles on the scenery.

Waiting at the Intro
--------------------

If you are waiting at Main Menu you will see the highscore list on
all 4 sceneries, including 1 for the TV-version and 1 for the Arcade-
Version and sometimes even a credit-list.

Version update: 080296.
