DISCLAIMER: The files in this directory are COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. We
are including the map editor version of Inner Worlds as an added bonus, on
the chance it might work for you, but we make NO GUARANTEES. We have made
no attempt to make the map editor bulletproof or easy to use, nor have we
put any effort into ensuring compatibility with a broad range of machines.
If it works for you, great; however, don't expect us to support it.

In particular, the DOS version of the map editor is known to be
incompatible with some mouse drivers, and the Linux version likewise only
understands a few types of mice, namely the types we happen to have. We
have not tried to fix this problem, because the map editor is not part of
the official Inner Worlds product and was never meant to be.

Note that, like the normal registered version of Inner Worlds, the map
editor version is NOT freely redistributable; it is for the use of
registered users only. You are welcome to exchange alternate maps with
other registered users, but you may not redistribute the program itself.

With that out of the way, this directory contains three files:

iwedit.txt:	A reference document we used internally during
development, which explains roughly how to use the map
editor. It certainly contains inaccuracies and omissions.

iwedit.exe:	The DOS version of Inner Worlds with the map editor enabled.
It works just like the normal registered version, except
you can press `e' while playing the game to enter the
map editor. (You will have to have a mouse driver that
Inner Worlds likes in order for this to work.) The
original maps are embedded in the .exe file; when you save
a map, the new version is saved to disk in the current
directory, and that version overrides the version in the
.exe file during subsequent loads. To get back the
original maps, just delete these map files.

iwedit: The Linux version of Inner Worlds with the map editor.
To use it, extract the contents of iw-linux.tgz into a
directory somewhere, and then replace `inner', the normal
registered version executable, with `iwedit'. Since in
the Linux version the original maps are _not_ embedded in
the executable file, you will overwrite them whenever you
save a map from the editor. To get back the original
maps, you will need to re-extract them from the archive or
copy them from a directory containing the unmodified maps.
