
1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

   . 486DX4-100 (Minimum)
   . 8 MB RAM
   . 550 KB Free Conventional Memory
   . MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
   . SoundBlaster Pro or 100% compatibles
   . 40 MB free Hard Drive space for fully installation
   . 2 MB free Hard Drive space for minimun installation   
   . VGA Graphics Card compatibled with VESA 2.0
   . Double Speed CD-ROM drive
   . MSCDEX 2.2 or Higher.

   A fast video card is recommended for optimum performance.



2. INSTALLATION

   Overkill can be played in DOS or Windows 3.1 and Windows 95's DOS mode. 
   To install the game, first placing your Overkill CD into your CD-ROM 
   drive, then select the CD-ROM drive as the active drive. Usually this is 
   drive D: or E:. Next, type INSTALL then press Enter key. For example: 
   D:\INSTALL.
 
   1. You have to select the INSTALL to begin your installation process
      first. You may choose fully installation(40MB Hard Drive space) or
      minimal installation(2MB Hard Drive space). Then select the
      destination directory you want the game being installed into. You
      may use the default name "C:\OVERKILL" or type in the name you want.
 
   2. Choose SOUND CARD to configure your sound card. The default setting
      is "Sound Blaster 16"

   3. Choose CONTROL OPTION to configure your control. You have to choose
      Keyboard and Joystick(GamePad) first, then enter the key(button)
      setting scene. You will find 3 default setting and one Custom setting.
      The 3 default settings provide you an easy way to start playing
      immediately, but Custom one gives you the most flexibility to do the
      detail key define.

   4. README provides more detail information on installation
  
   ** OVERKILL needs 7.3MB free memory to run. You may use DOS command "MEM"
      to check your memory space. "MEM" command usually resides in C:\DOS.
      The FILES and BUFFERS lines in CONFIG.SYS should be set correctly.
      Wrong setting will cause the game stop playing. You might use Boot Disk
      to boot the system and create more memory space, the Boot Disk will not
      change your Hard Drive setting, the system boot from Boot Disk is just
      temporarary system for game playing. (Please refer to "How to create
      Boot Disk" section for more detail).



3. STARTING THE GAME

   . Place the Overkill CD into the CD-ROM drive.
   . Switch the drive to where the OVERKILL program resides. Usually it is
     Hard Drive "C:"
   . Change directory to Overkill directory. For example: Type CD \OVERKILL 
     and press Enter.
   . Type OVERKILL and press Enter to start the game.

   Note:
   1. For 486 environments, adjusting the speed to fast level will bring 
      you better results.
   2. Due to different Hardware efficiency, you may adjust the speed to 
      different level to achieve the best result.

   Only three buttons is needed, you may define any three from six buttons 
   freely to match the Punch, Kick and Attack function key.


   Exit  : press ESC key
   Selecting character: press each player's KICK or PUNCH or ATTACK or
                     ENTER key



5. TROUBLESHOOTING

   . About Screen

   If there is trouble on your screen, you might have a monitor that is not 
   VESA compatible or the VESA driver hasn't been installed. To solve this 
   problem, you can place the Overkill CD into CD-ROM drive then follow the
   steps below to install the VESA universal driver in your system:

   1. Change current directory to CD-ROM's VESA directory.    
   2. Type INSTALL then press Enter and follow the instructions to finish
      the installation process.
   3. Restart the system and typein OVERKILL to start the game playing.


   . About Memory

   Overkill requires 7.3 MB of total free memory to run the game. You may
   use DOS's MEM command to check the system memory. Files and buffers in 
   CONFIG.SYS must be set to the correct settings for optimal game playing. 
   Fail to have files and buffers set correctly will stop the game playing!


   . About the Sound Card

   If you don't quite sure which sound card being installed into your system,
   pls choose "Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible" mode to 
   make the sound card work.


   . About the animation

   OVERKILL sees the double speed CD-ROM with transfer rate of 300kb/sec. 
   If your CD-ROM can't meet this standard, you may see the screen freezing 
   temporarily or some noise appeared. Try to contact your CD-ROM manufacture
   for the performance improving.


   . How to create a Boot Disk

   You can free additional memory by creating a boot disk. This process will 
   not change you current hard drive settings and is the best way to 
   temporarily change your system settings for optimal game performance.

     . Insert a blank floppy disk into drive A:
     . While at the C:\> status, type FORMAT A:/S then press ENTER.
     . Once the disk is formatted, change drive from C:\ to A:\.
     . Type EDIT CONFIG.SYS and press Enter to edit the CONFIG.SYS file.

       Type in following and save it as CONFIG.SYS.

                DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
                DOS=HIGH,UMB
                FILE=30,0

     . Type EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT and press Enter to edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

       Type in following and save it as AUTOEXEC.BAT.

6. LICENSE AGREEMENT AND LIMITED WARRANTY

   your acceptance of the terms of this legal agreement between you, the end 
   user and ID Interactive. The software and accompanying items are provided 
   to you only upon the condition that you agree to the terms of this

   ID Interactive grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited 
   license to use one copy of this software product for your personal use 
   only. This software is licensed for use on a single computer in a single 
   location. The software and its accompanying documentation are protected
   by United States copyright laws and international treaties and may not be 
   copied. All right not expressly granted are reserved by ID Interactive.



8. Limited 90 days Warranty

   ID Interactive warrants to the original purchaser of this software product 
   that, under normal use, the media upon which the software program is 
   recorded is free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 
   90 days from the date of original purchase ("Warranty Period")



9. Warranty Claims

   To make a warranty claim, please return the defective product ,
   accompanied by a dated proof of purchase to your local store. 



10. Warranty Limitations

   ID Interactive shall not be liable in any case for incidental, 
   consequential, or other damages arising from any claim under this 
   agreement, even if ID Interactive has been advised of the possibility of 
   such damages. In no event shall ID Interactive*s liability exceed the 
   purchase price of this product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or 
   limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation 
   or exlusion may not apply to you.
