				 Sea Legends.

Installation.

Run INSTALL.COM from CD and follow instructions. To change music drivers run
INSTALL.COM from directory where Sea Legends game was installed on hard
disk. To install Sea Legends again, for example to change language or to put
more files on hard disk, run INSTALL.COM from CD again. All files would be
updated, but your save games wouldn't be deleted. We recommend you to install
Sea Legends using option "All important files on hard disk - recommended" in
install program. This will require 34M of free hard disk space.

To reach maximum performance of your computer when Sea Legends is running,
it is highly recommended to install the program with the configuration
when VMM (Virtual Memory Manager) is not active. To make it, you should
have at least 6M of free XMS memory on your computer.

If you have changed configuration of your computer (amount of free memory,
hardware configuration etc.), you should re-install the game from CD to
avoid configuration problems and improve performance.

Parameters.

You can run SL.COM from hard drive with additional parameter - path to SL
directory on CD, for example
       sl.com d:
This is useful, when drive letter of your CD was changed.

Another parameter forces Sea Legends to run in VGA mode:
       sl.com v

Digital drivers.

1. Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible.
Select this driver for use with your Sound Blaster, Sound Galaxy,
Thunderboard, or Pro Audio Spectrum adapter. Other sound cards which are not
supported directly may also work with this driver, as long as they provide
hardware-based Sound Blaster compatibility without emulation drivers or TSRs.

2. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro or 100% compatible.
This driver supports all versions of the Sound Blaster Pro and
100%-compatible adapters. Not recommended for use with the Sound Blaster 16
or AWE32.

3. Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32.
For high-quality digital audio with your Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32 adapter,
select this driver.

4. Roland RAP-10.
WARNING: During auto-detection of the Roland RAP-10 card, the driver verifies
that the RAP-10 is present at an I/O address of 320H or 330H. It will NOT
verify the card's DMA channel or IRQ settings. If your RAP-10 card is not
configured for IRQ 9, or if DMA channels 5 and 6 are already in use by
another card on your system, you MUST select the "Configure sound driver
manually" option at the next menu, and enter the correct I/O settings for
your card. Otherwise, your system may lock up, or you may experience a rapid
'chatter' effect during sound playback.

5. Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum or 100% compatible.
Stereo digital audio with all versions of the Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum
is available through the use of this driver. If you experience problems, you
should select the Sound Blaster-compatible driver instead. The Media Vision
utility MVSOUND.SYS must be loaded into memory, or your card will not be
detected.

6. Gravis UltraSound.
When using this driver, ensure that no Gravis utilities such as SBOS,
UltraMID, or Mega-Em are active. Your UltraSound system software should be
version 2.0 or later.

7. New Media Corporation WaveJammer(TM) Digital Audio.
The WaveJammer card from New Media Corporation provides high-quality portable
audio for PCMCIA-based computers. Select the Ad Lib(R) Music Synthesizer
Card driver for FM music performance with the WaveJammer.

8. Ensoniq SoundScape(TM) Digital Audio
Select this driver if you have an Ensoniq SoundScape(TM) or compatible audio
card.

9. Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) Sound System or 100% compatible.
Select this driver if your card is compatible with the Microsoft Windows
Sound System. If DMA channel 1 is not available for use by the Windows Sound
System board, you will need to use the "Configure sound driver manually"
option to select another DMA channel. If you are running Windows 95 or
another Plug-n-Play system, you may need to check with the Device Manager to
see what I/O address your Windows Sound System card is using.

10. ESS Technology ES688 Digital Audio.
This driver supports systems equipped with ESS Technology's ES688 chipset.

Music drivers.

1. General MIDI (Roland MPU-401 or 100% compatible.
Most General MIDI synthesizers support the Roland MPU-401 MIDI hardware
interface standard. These include the Roland Sound Canvas, RAP-10, and
compatibles, as well as add-on daughterboards for the Sound Blaster 16
family. MPU-401 devices generally offer the highest level of performance and
sound quality available, but users of Adaptec SCSI controllers may wish to
select the "Skip auto-detection and configure driver manually" option at the
next menu to reduce the likelihood of MPU-401 detection problems. If you
have a Creative Labs AWE-32, you should select "Creative Labs AWE-32(TM)
General MIDI" instead.

2. Ensoniq SoundScape(TM) General MIDI
Select this driver if you have an Ensoniq SoundScape(TM) or compatible audio
card.

3. Gravis UltraSound MIDI Synth.
When using this driver, ensure that no Gravis utilities such as SBOS,
UltraMID, or Mega-Em are active. Your UltraSound system software should be
version 2.0 or later.

4. Creative Labs AWE-32(TM) General MIDI
This driver offers wavetable-quality General MIDI music synthesis with the
Creative Labs AWE-32 card. The "Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32"
driver should be selected for digital audio.

5. Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible.
This driver can be used with any Sound Blaster-compatible FM music
synthesizer card that does not rely on software TSRs for Sound Blaster FM
compatibility. Users of more sophisticated General MIDI-based cards should
select the Sound Blaster driver only if problems occur with the card's
General MIDI driver, as the older Sound Blaster OPL-2 chipset does not offer
the superior sound quality available with more modern devices.

6. Creative Labs Sound Blaster(TM) 16.
This driver is designed for use with Sound Blaster 16 adapters which are not
equipped with General MIDI daughterboards such as the Wave Blaster. Although
the AWE-32 can also be supported with the Sound Blaster 16 driver, AWE-32
users should select the "Creative Labs AWE-32(TM) General MIDI" driver for
optimum sound quality.

7. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro (new version).
If your Sound Blaster Pro is a "current" model equipped with the Yamaha OPL-3
synthesizer, or if your music doesn't sound right with the other Sound
Blaster Pro driver, you should select this option.

8. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro (old version).
Users of early versions of the Sound Blaster Pro card can enjoy 18-voice,
2-operator FM stereo music by selecting this driver. However, most Sound
Blaster Pro cards and their compatibles, including the Sound Blaster 16, use
the more powerful OPL-3 chipset. With these later cards, you should select
the "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro(TM) (new version)" driver instead.

9. Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum (old version).
Only users of the earliest Pro Audio Spectrum cards from Media Vision should
select this driver. The Media Vision utility MVSOUND.SYS must be loaded into
memory, or your card will not be detected.

10. Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum (-Plus or -16).
Users of the Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum Plus and Pro Audio Spectrum 16
cards should select this driver. The Media Vision utility MVSOUND.SYS must
be loaded into memory, or your card will not be detected.

11. Ad Lib Gold Music Synthesizer Card.
This driver supports the Ad Lib Gold Music Synthesizer card in 4-operator FM
mode.

12. Ad Lib Music Synthesizer Card or 100% compatible.
This driver can be used with any Ad Lib-compatible FM music synthesizer card
that does not rely on software TSRs for Ad Lib FM compatibility. Users of
more sophisticated General MIDI-based cards should select the Ad Lib driver
only if problems occur with the card's General MIDI driver, as the older Ad
Lib OPL-2 chipset does not offer the superior sound quality available with
more modern devices.

13. ESS Technology ES688 FM Audio.
This driver supports systems equipped with ESS Technology's ES688 chipset.

14. ESS Technology ES1688, ES1788, ES1888 Enhanced FM Audio.
This driver supports systems equipped with ESS Technology's ES1688, ES1788,
or ES1888 chips. Enhanced FM music performance is available with this
driver. If problems occur, select the 'ESS Technology ES688 FM Audio' driver
instead.

15. Generic Yamaha OPL3-based FM music synthesizer.
This driver is for use with all Yamaha OPL-3 based FM music synthesizers,
including those not supported by any other driver in the list.

16. Tandy 3-voice music.
Tandy 1000-compatible 3-voice music support is available with this driver.

17. Software wavetable synthesizer.
Select this driver instead low-end FM music synthesizers such as OPL-2 or
OPL-3 if you have high performance DAC (16 bit, 22kHz, stereo is
recommended), at least 8M RAM and 486DX2-66 or higher.

Troubleshooting.

1. VESA BIOS extension drivers.
Sea Legends runs in SVGA mode only if your have VESA BIOS extension that
supports SVGA mode with resolution 640 by 480 with 256 colors. At least 512k
of memory on SVGA card is required. Some of SVGA cards doesn't support VESA
without software drivers. These SVGA cards require custom VESA drivers which
are usually shipped on the diskette that came with your SVGA card. If you
can't find a VESA driver for your SVGA card, contact either your SVGA card
manufacturer or your computer supplier.

2. Running Sea Legends in VGA mode.
If your computer doesn't have SVGA video card or your card doesn't supports
VESA BIOS extension you still can run Sea Legends in VGA mode 320 by 480 with
256 colors. In this case the quality of graphics will be lower in some scenes
and especially in Global Menu. The quality of 3D battle will be the same as
it uses 320 by 200 resolution. The 256k of memory on VGA card is required.

3. VESA detection fail with some memory managers.
If the game is run on a computer which is using QEMM 7.5 or some other memory
manager, you can see the following message in install program: "To run Sea
Legends it is highly recommended to use VESA compatible SVGA video card with
at least 512K of memory". Try to remove your memory manager, reboot your
computer and re-run install program.

4. Sound detection problems with SCSI peripherals.
When SCSI peripherals are installed on your computer, the auto-detection
phases of the MPU-401 compatible sound cards could cause problems. You should
select the "Skip auto-detection and configure driver manually" option at the
install program to reduce the likelihood of MPU-401 detection problems.

5. Gravis UltraSound emulation utilities problems.
When using Gravis UltraSound, ensure that no Gravis utilities such as SBOS,
UltraMID, or Mega-Em are active. Your UltraSound system software should be
version 2.0 or later.

6. Insufficient memory.
If your computer have 6M of free XMS memory or less while running Sea
Legends, you can receive the following message:

No memory.
Reset memlink error. Buff. Min = 896k, Free ext. = 2448k.
Bye.

Please, remove some disk caching utilities, RAM drives or any other programs
that uses XMS memory. If you have 8M of RAM we recommend to install any disk
caching utility with 512K cache size. At the start of Sea Legends the
available amount of XMS memory is displayed. This value should be 5173K or
greater for correct working of Sea Legends. If you can't free the required
amount of RAM, please run INSTALL.COM from CD once again. Virtual Memory
Manager will be installed in this case.

7. Conventional memory.
Sea Legends required only 300K of conventional memory to run. However, with
300K of conventional memory only 3 sound effects will be mixing during 3D
battle. We recommend you to free as much RAM as possible to hear up to 8
effects at one moment with 600K or more of conventional memory. The number of
available digital channels are displayed at the start of Sea Legends.

8. CMOS settings.
The following CMOS settings have been known to cause a problem with Sea
Legends: "Hidden Refresh" and "Turbo Switch Function". This settings should
be disabled.

9. FILES settings.
If Sea Legends exits to DOS with some message like:

File read/write error.
library 11 battle.res
Bye.

you should increase the value of environment variable FILES up to 30. This
means that your CONFIG.SYS file should include the following line:

FILES=30

10. Changing the amount of free XMS memory.
If you have changed amount of free XMS memory, for example installing or
uninstalling some disk caching utilities or RAM disks, it is necessary to
re-install Sea Legends from CD. In the case when your computer have 8M or RAM
or less it is strictly required to re-install the game because Virtual Memory
Manager on such computers is installing during running of INSTALL.COM from
CD.
