--------------------------------------

GENERAL:

	(i) Problems with the SMARTDRV utility.

When the above DOS based utility is installed, we have noted a significant
amount of instability with Sea Legends. This program, if present, is located
in your machines AUTOEXEC.BAT. If present, simply load up a DOS based text
editor (e.g. EDIT) and edit the file C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT. Move the cursor to
the start of the line and insert the word REM. A simple example may be seen
below.

	e.g. C:\DOS\SMARTDRV /X

should be changed to REM C:\DOS\SMARTDRV /X

If you have any problems using or finding your text based editor, please
consult your operating systems reference manual or your original machine
supplier.

(ii) Graphical Problems while using QEMM memory manager.

If you use the above memory manager, you may experience some minor graphical
distortion within the game. This can be removed by using the utility MEMAKER
that is supplied with later versions of MSDOS. This should remove the QEMM
start-up lines and replace them with the EMM386 utility.

If you have any problems using MEMAKER then please consult your operating
system reference manual for further information.

	(iii) Mouse Control.

To be fully playable, Sea Legends requires a DOS based Microsoft
compatible mouse driver. If you are experiencing problems using
the mouse pointer, please ensure that you have a mouse that is
connected to your PC. On boot-up, please check that your mouse
driver is loaded. If your mouse driver isn't loading, then please
refer to the instruction supplied with your mouse for installation of
the mouse driver software.

SOUND CARD PROBLEMS:

(i) Sound card parameter auto-detection problems with SCSI based hardware.

During the original installation or reconfiguration of Sea Legends, you may
be faced with an option to auto-detect your sound cards parameters. If your
machine contains SCSI based devices, you may find that selecting this phase
may conflict with your hardware resulting in a machine crash. If you are
unsure about your peripherals configuration, please contact your original
hardware supplier.

If problems arise while using the auto-detect option, please use the manual
set up option. If you are unsure of your sound cards configuration options,
please contact your sound card supplier for more
information.

(ii) Problems with the Gravis UltraSnd range of cards.

If you use a version of the above range of sound cards, chances are you may
be running the emulator software MEGA-EM or SBOS. These have been found to
conflict with Sea Legends and often cause the INSTALL program to crash.
Simply avoid the use of the emulator software and set the sound card
parameters to the Gravis UltraSnd options. If you have problems
re-configuring consult your supplied hardware manuals or contact your
original hardware suppliers.

VIDEO CARD PROBLEMS:

(i) VESA video drivers.

Sea Legends requires a VESA compatible video card. Many cards provide
sufficient VESA support to be work unaided with Sea Legends. However, several
cards require external mode programs to be run to allow them to work
correctly. If full VESA support is not provided, you may experience text
distortions within the game. These drivers are usually supplied on floppy
disks when the card is purchased. If you were not supplied with the correct
drivers or are having trouble using or locating them, please contact your
original hardware supplier for further information.

For simple examples, please see "(ii) Diamond Viper 9000(VLB) problems"
and "(iii) HMC (ISA) video card problems".

(ii) Diamond Viper 9000(VLB) problems.

As stated in "(i) VESA video drivers", problems may occur with video adapters
that require external VESA support. The Diamond Viper 9000(VLB) adapter is
one such card. While using the card you may obtain distorted text within the
install program and the game. This can be solved by running the utility
VPRMODE, which you will find on your video cards installation disks. In your
video cards utility directory, enter the following line

VPRMODE VESA

This will solve your problem. If you experience problems locating or using
the driver, please consult your video cards hardware reference manual or
consult your original hardware supplier.

(iii) HMC (ISA) video card problems.

As stated in "(i) VESA video drivers", some cards are not supplied with
the relevant VESA drivers to be fully compatible with Sea Legends. Without
these drivers, Sea Legends in-game font becomes corrupt, and at times may be
unreadable. One such card, we have found, is the HMC (ISA) video adapter.
If you have this or any similar video adapter and are experiencing problems
please contact your video card manufacturer to obtain a VESA driver specific
to your video card.

(iv) Trust 16 Sound Card Configuration Problems.

The problem with the above card is apparent when the Install program is run.
Once the files have been installed and the sound card settings have been
saved, the install program will crash with the message:

	File read / write error,
	Library 11D:\start0.anr

To run the game with this sound card the following must be done.

In your Autoexec.bat, there will be the line:

	SET GALAXY=A200 I5 D1 K10 Pf40 T6

This line is put into the Autoexec.bat by the Trust 16 install program, and
for you to setup sound with this card and Sea Legends this line must be REM'ed
out.

If this line is removed, the game should then be installed.

The sound card will now setup correctly, if you chose the selected drivers.

The SET GALAXY line must also be removed when you wish to run the game.
