                            Installing and Running
                           the ImagiNation Network
                                with OS/2 WARP

          --Remember!
          The ImagiNation Network software requires MS-DOS. We do not
          support or recommend using another operating system such as
          OS/2 WARP.
                Although the ImagiNation Network may work just fine
          under
          OS/2 WARP, we have not thoroughly tested it. If you have any
          problems using the ImagiNation Network under OS/2 WARP, you
          may get the best information if you contact IBM
          directly. However, you can use these instructions to attempt
          to access the ImagiNation Network using OS/2 WARP.
                Keep in mind that these instructions may not work for
          everyone. When in doubt, use DOS to get online in the
          ImagiNation Network.

          --System Requirements
          In addition to the minimum system requirements for OS/2 WARP,
          we recommend a minimum of 8 MB of RAM. You must also have a
          minimum of 585K of free conventional memory in your DOS
          session.

          --Installing the ImagiNation Network Software
          The simplest way to install the ImagiNation Network Software
          is to open a full-screen DOS session.
          1. Open the SYSTEM Folder
          2. Open the COMMAND PROMPTS Folder
          3. Double-click on the Full-screen DOS session icon.
          4. Insert Disk #1 into your 3.5" drive.
          5. Type A: (or B:) and hit [ENTER].
          6. Type INSTALL and follow the directions on-screen.
          7. When the installation is done, and you have returned to a
             DOS prompt, type EXIT to return to OS/2.

          --Running the ImagiNation Network Software
          The ImagiNation Network works best under OS/2 when run
          in full-screen mode. Many problems can be prevented by making
          sure that the ImagiNation Network Software is run in full-
          screen mode.

          --Setting up a Desktop Icon for ImagiNation
          1. Open the Templates Folder.
          2. Drag the Program icon to the desktop.
          3. Type in the drive and subdirectory where INN is located,
          usually C:\INN\INN.BAT in the "Path and File Name" dialog.
          4. In the "Working Directory" box, type in the subdirectory
          where the ImagiNation Network software is located, usually
          C:\INN.

          --Suggested properties
          With the dialog box for the new program still open:
          1. Click on the "Session" tab.
          2. Click on the "DOS Full Screen" button.
          3. Click on DOS Settings and make the following changes:
                COM_DIRECT_ACCESS = On
                DOS_FILES = 40
                DOS_HIGH=On
                DOS_UMB = On
                EMS_MEMORY_LIMIT = 1024
                HW_TIMER=On
                IDLE_SENSITIVITY=100
                KBD_ALTHOME_BYPASS = On
                SESSION_PRIORITY = 32

          --Running ImagiNation from its icon
          Double-click on the ImagiNation icon you just created to
          launch the ImagiNation Network Software.

          If you're running ImagiNation under OS/2 WARP, you'll get much
          better results if you use a full screen rather than a window.
          Even on a fast machine with a perfect configuration, the
          performance suffers, and other problems could pop up. A common
          occurrence in OS/2 WARP is for the keyboard to stop working
          when switching back to full screen from a window.
                OS/2 WARP ships with a communication driver for DOS
          programs. This driver works well enough, but there is a
          possibility of increased problems at higher bauds if you don't
          run ImagiNation in full screen mode, with ImagiNation as the
          only active application.
                Also, you should be aware that if you try to multitask
          with other applications, ImagiNation Network performance will
          suffer and could result in increased disconnects from the
          network. For the best results, make sure ImagiNation is the
          only application running.
                Running the ImagiNation Network Software with the above
          recommendations will result in over 600k of free conventional
          memory, which is more than sufficient to run all of our
          games.
