Remember this is a Beta version of Valhalla. You are bound to get errors
when running this and we would appreciate some feedback if you encounter
any errors.

			     TROUBLESHOOTING

Most errors that occur in Valhalla appear such as this:
Ŀ
Valhalla has detected an error in file xxx.c, line xxx:
_openx: Unable to locate file MENUS\VMAIN2.PCX (Tried exist and
    pak_check)

If you receive an error like this and you can't find help in this document
about it, then send us some email with exactly what it says in the box
including the filename and line #.

Problem: "_openx: Unable to locate file XXX (Tried pak_check)"
Cause: Either we made a mistake and forgot a file or you've been playing
around with the game (shame, shame)
Solution: Re-install Valhalla. Unpack it from the archive again and try again.
If you still get the error, contact us so we can fix it

Problem: "_mallocx: Couldn't allocate xxxx bytes"
Cause: There is not enough system RAM currently available to run Valhalla.
Solution: If you're in Windows 95 or in anything other than a plain DOS
prompt, exit and try it at plain DOS prompt. If that still doesn't
work, then you've encountered a bug and you should contact us with
some information about your system so we can fix it.

Problem: "During IRQ xx, and error occured:"
Cause: You've found a bug in Valhalla.
Solution: There is no solution. Try running VALDEBUG and sending us the log
so we can see what happened and what we can do to fix it

Problem: I have a sound card, but I get no sound or music.
Cause: Either the I/O port, the IRQ or the DMA channel is misconfigured
Solution: Trying running setup and have it Autodetect your card

Problem: Setup locks up my machine when autodetecting my sound card.
Cause: When probing to determine which I/O port we conflicted with
another device at that I/O port.
Solution: You need to enter in your Sound Card information by hand. We're
working on getting the Autodetection routines to be a little more
	  user friendly.

Problem: Program hangs or crashes.
Cause: We have no record of this, its a new bug.
Solution: See if you can replicate it, then contact technical support to
	  report a bug.

Problem: My problem is not covered in this document
Solution: Reboot your machine with a "clean" boot. If you are using
DOS version 6.0 or higher, hold down the left SHIFT key to
bypass AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. If you are using a DOS
version lower than 6.0, make a boot disk with no AUTOEXEC.BAT and
no CONFIG.SYS. If this does not fix your problem, you need to
re-install Valhalla or get a new copy.
