USSR Meeting Engagement*

Date: June 26, 1941.*
Location: Near Brody, Russia.*
*
Army Group South, under General von Rundstedt moved rapidly towards the
Ukraine. Panzer Group One spearheaded the drive. General Kirponos, known
as the Soviet equivalent of Heinz Guderian, had four mechanized Corps
under his command but they were scattered out over hundreds of miles.*
*
In desperation, Kirponos committed all of his forces
to the battle in an effort to slice through the Panzer columns and
cut off the 16th Panzer Division. In the marshy area between Dubno and
Brody, the German and Soviet tank forces entered into what was the biggest
tank battle in history to that date.*
*
A number of Soviet units were equipped with the superior T-34
tank, but the coordination between Russian forces was practically
non-existent. The fighting between these two forces continued
for four days, culminating in the battles on June 26th.*
*
Number of Turns: 12.*

The German side is suggested for the human player.
