As you know commander, the communist forces launched a surprise offensive
during the Vietnamese Tet holiday. Large portions of the old Imperial city of
Hue fell to the VC attackers. The past few weeks have been witness to some of
the most intensive fighting of the war. Until now our South Vietnamese allies have not
required our assistance to clear the VC out of Hue. We've just recieved a
request from the ARVN I Corps commander to provide troops for the final assault
in Hue. Your men will be working along side the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division to
hit the western side of the city. The goal is to link up with the ARVN
forces coming from the east. Be careful commander, the VC are well entrenched
and are detirmined to fight.
