A TOUGH FIGHT AT VESOUL*
*
Around Vesoul, France.
Sept.10, 1944.*
*
From the Riviera into the heart of France, it has been a race between
allied forces and the retreating Germans. Again and again General Truscott
has tried to slip a noose around the enemy, but they have always managed to
slip through.*
Now upon nearing the Belfort Gap, the three American divisions turn east
and into the fleeing XIX Army. Intelligence reports have it that most of the
German forces have withdrawn from Vesoul. *
You have orders from General O' Daniel, commander of the 3rd Division, to
secure the city. His superior, General Truscott is determined to have this happen.
The city is defended, and they will be determined to
keep you out. Winning this battle will help secure Southern France
for the Allies and link up with Patton's 3rd Army to the north of you.*
