This README file contains errata and information not covered in the
Alchemist manual, as well as tactics and additional troubleshooting
tips.

| Installing Alchemist |

1.1 MS-DOS user
  Please run INSTALL.EXE from your installation disk.

1.2 Windows 95 user
  Please run SETUP.EXE from your installation disk.

1.3 Minimum Basic requirement
  - IBM compatible 486DX-66Mhz computer with 8Mb of RAM.
    (12Mb if run inside a Windows 95 DOS box.)
  - MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
    Alchemist can also be started from Windows 95.
  - Color monitor, and 256 color VGA graphics system.
  - Sound Card
    e.g. Sound Blaster
  - Microsoft Mouse or compatible
  - 2X CD-ROM drive or faster (MSCDEX v2.23 or higher)
  - Hard drive with at least 45Mb of free space.

1.4 Preferred requirement
  - Intel pentium class CPU
  - 16M RAM
  - 4X CD-ROM drive
  - PCI or VL-BUS display card

1.5 Change Sound Card
  Please run SETSOUND.BAT from your ALCHEMIST directory.

  If you have problem when selecting Sound Blaster 16 driver, please try Sound
  Blaster Clone. Both drivers will provide same quality sound for ALCHEMIST
  game play.

| Getting Started |

To start the game from the DOS prompt, make C:\WARPPOW\ALCHEMST your
current directory (or change to the directory where Alchemist is
located), type "ALCHEMST", then press <ENTER>.  To start the game under
Windows 95, double-click on the Alchemist icon.

You will see a series of cinematic sequences, followed by the Main Menu.
You can bypass any cinematic in the game by pressing <ESC>.

3.1 Main menu

  3.1.1 New Game
        To begin a new team.

  3.1.2 Load Game
        To continue a saved game

  3.1.3 Custom Game
        You can select network game or auxilary missions.

        [Network game]
        - Require IPX compatible network.
        - Maximum 5 user.

        [Custom Mission]
        Missions designed other than story mode mission

  3.1.4 Replay Introduction

  3.1.5 Show Credits

  3.1.6 Exit
        Press 'ESC' key or this command to exit the ALCHEMIST.

3.2 Different crews
  Alchemist has five different teams of army.
    - BloodSucker
    - Animializer
    - Scientific Myth
    - SaintHood
    - MaskEvil

3.3 Difficulty
  Form easiest to hardest :
    SaintHood, Animalizer, BloodSucker, Scientific Myth and then MaskEvil

3.4 GAME SCREEN

  TOP BAR : Place on the top of the game screen
    - Astro Clock
      Click to on/off the Astro clock
    - Option button
      Open a menu for options control
    - Wood Storage
      Current wood storage
    - Mana
      Current mana count
    - Mana Bar
      graphicaly shows current mana count and mana maximum capacity of your
      town.
    - Panel button
      To widen the display screen, you can turn off the Panel by clicking this
      button.

  SIDE PANEL : Place on the right of the game screen
    - info
      display more information about your team
    - army tab
      change the panel to armies which are ready for training
    - contruction tab
      change the panel to available building/construction options
    - global map
      * Display the explored area of mission.
      * The rectangle on gloabl map represent game screen where you located.
      * You can simply move the rectangle to locate difference area by right
        click your mouse.
        Also can move your selected armies by left click the global map.


3.5 OPTION MENU

  Option menu provide you restart, save, load, exit to control your game.
  You can review your objective by clicking the objective button.
  Game Speed, Scroll Speed, Sound Effect Volume, BGM Volume can be adjust by
  your wish.


3.6 CHARACTER MENU:
  Some characters may have specialty on it's character menu. To
  open character menu, left click when you have selected one teammate
  army.


3.7 TIPS

  MANA
    Mana is a resource of all.
    That provided from your citizen population or by hunting beast.
    You can build more citizen house to increase the population.

  WOOD STORE
    Wood is a resource for building any construction.

  MASTER:
    Master can build tower anywhere. Left click when selected your
    master will pop up a character menu, there are build tower
    command.

  WORKER:
    Harvest tree to increase your wood storage. You can double
    click any citizen house to call one worker.

  TOWER:
    Building must place in the coverage of tower's power.

  CITIZEN HOUSE:
    Citizen House produce mana, and create worker.

  ARMY BUILDING:
    Train armies.

3.8 ROLE PLAY
  Use master to build your first tower, build citizen house to call up your
  worker(s), build other citizen house to increase your population.

  To have armies for defensing your town, build army construction as soon as
  possible.

  Build another tower will let you enlarge you town.

3.9   KEYBOARD COMMAND
  ESCAPE		: Main Menu
  UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT	: Scroll Screen
  F1			: Mission Objective
  F2			: Load Menu
  F3			: Save Menu
  F4			: Option Menu
  F5			: Side Bar
  F6			: Toggle Train/Construction Tab
  F7			: Cancel Selection
  F8			: Selection All Unit
  SHIFT-F9, CTRL-F9	: Assign group 1
  F9			: Recall group 1
  SHIFT-F10, CTRL-F10	: Assign group 2
  F10			: Recall group 2
  SHIFT-F11, CTRL-F11	: Assign group 3

In order to play Alchemist BGM, user have to install DOS mode CDROM driver
software and MSCDEX.EXE otherwise you may feel system hang up when changing
screen.

Compatibility Mode will turn off BGM music play back by default. This mode will
suitable for Win95 system that haven't install DOS mode CDROM driver, example
when you install IDE Bus Master Mode driver.
