   General Elysian Fields Info

This is the full version of Elysian Fields, one of the best
QBasic RPG's ever made. You may distribute this game, as long as
you do not edit any of the files. Feel free to post it up on
your web page, but please tell me, so that I can link your page.
This game has several different characters (and a secret
character), magics, items, weapons, armors, etc. I can go on
forever. This game took several months (more than six) to
complete. The towns are all detailed, with several stores, inns,
etc. This game is packed with animation sequences, and slide
shows, all with very impressive graphics. The storyline of this
game is great. You are not against only one person, or one group
of people. You will encounter many enemies who will give you a
hard time. Elysian Fields is the only Qbasic RPG that will give
you hours and hours of RPG glory.

   How to Play An RPG

In the demo text file, I made a mistake. There is no main
objective in this game. There are so many objectives in this
game, and all of them will lead to the main objective, but the
game is not over once you complete the main objective. This game
has more than one ending. One of the endings will have you truly
complete your final objective. The other will leave the game
hanging. Either way, you will get a secrets screen, telling you
all of the secrets of the game.

There are various missions in this game. Through these missions,
you will encounter many monsters. Use your weapons, magics, and
items to defeat the evil monsters. When you defeat monsters, you
will gain experience points, also known as xp. Experience points
will help you to raise your levels, and when your character(s)
raise their levels, they become more powerful. You will also
recieve gold points, which will be useful for buying items in
towns. You will also get other characters on your team who will
help you to defeat the Centurians (and hopefully you will find
        the secret character!).

You may only carry 9 different items, 5 of each. Certain
characters will be able to equip certain weapons, armors, and
helmets. You will regain hp and mp for all characters at an inn,
and you will be able to buy weapons, armors and helmets at the
weapon shops. You will be able to buy items at the item shops.
You will be able to save whenever you see a blue orb (usually
located in the centers of the towns). Sorry, but in this game,
you cannot sell your old weapons or armors; you drop them
        automatically.

When an enemy hits you, you will lose hp, and vice-versa. When
you use magic, you will lose mp. When you have 0 hp, you will be
rendered dead. Don't let this happen. Use heals and potions for
rejuvenation. You will have to restart from your last save point
if all of your characters have 0 hp (hitpoints).

You can only get to a new screen by following a path (usually a
dirt path) when you are in town, but when you are not in town,
you can go anywhere you want, as long as there are no obstacles
        in your way.

That's all you should know about how to play an RPG.

   How To Play Elysian Fields

This game has very basic controls. Use the arrow keys to move
your person or whatever you have to move, and use ENTER as the
action key. What I mean by action key is talking, opening a
chest, selecting something, and anything else that would require
an action to take place. ENTER will also be used to continue
and/or end a conversation, buy items, and anything else in that
nature. The ESCAPE button will bring up your status screen.

This game may have a bit of loading time for each screen,
depending on the speed of your computer. If you have a PENTIUM
        (c) processor, then it shouldn't be a problem, but if you have a
486 (like me), then it might take about 1 second for each screen.
Nothing to be worried about, though.

One major thing: if you are about to talk to someone, make sure
you are not pressing more than 1 key. That could screw up the
        video screens.

Programmers Note: The Delay is due to my not using GET and
PUT due to limited array space.

What you need to play Elysian Fields

To play the full version of Elysian Fields, you will need a 486
33 MhZ processor at a minimum (it will run on other processors,
but very, very slow), a VGA monitor, and about 2.5 MB of free
        space.

   Programmers Note

I have left the game uncompiled because I don't care if you read
the source code. I am being very generous, so do NOT edit
anything. Trust me, editing any of these files will screw up the
whole game. Read if you please, but do NOT change anything. If
you want to use anything from this game in one of your games, ask
        permission.

   My Future in Programming

Well, Psycho Fighters was made at the same time as this game, and
it came out to be an amazing game. Download it off our Web Page.
Elysian Fields came out to be as good as I first planned it to be.
For my next game, I am not sure. I may ask YOU, the players, what
kind of game you would like to see in the future.

Either way, you'll be able to find out what I'm programming if you
go to our web page and go to the upcoming games section... there's
        where the information usually is.

        Until next time, c'ya!
