$ During thirties, Germans begun motorization of their cavalry units. Until September 1939 they were able$
$to motorise most of their cavalry regiments. The only large cavalry unit was 1st Cavalry Brigade operating$
$from East Prussia as a part of gen. Kuchler's 3rd Army. Apart from the 1st Cavalry Brigade, there were$
$a lot of smaller reconnaissance units, mixed with cyclists, motorcyclists and armoured cars. German rules,$
$as well as Polish ones assumed that cavalry units move on horseback, but fight like ordinary infantry. In$
$spite of these, encounter of cavalrymen took place in the last decade of September in lubelszczyzna, where$
$Polish squadrons of Nowogrodzka Cavalry Brigade attempting to get out of encirclement run into German$
$cavalry unit. The fight was won by the Poles.$
