$ The rapid development of Panzerwaffe in Nazi Germany has forced the improvement of engineering units.$
$Motorised and modernised engineering forces were one of the keys in the German doctrine of Blitzkrieg.$
$ They were responsible for successful river crossings by motorised and armoured troops. Heavy armoured$
$vehicles on the pursuit had to get across rivers as quickly as possible. Therefor engineering units had$
$to be properly equipped for fast deployment of bridges. During the pursuit, engineers had to remove the$
$obstacles left by the retreating enemy as well as damaged vehicles. Many of their actions, although often$
$not very impressive, were most important for the speed of advance.$
