$ Air defence units were subordinated to the Luftwaffe. Because of this, in September 1939, Wehrmacht units$
$were poorly equipped with such weapons. Every divisional anti-tank unit had an anti-aircraft company$
$possessing twelve 20 mm cannons Flak 30. On the levels of army and corps independent anti-aircraft units$
$were created. They were equipped with heavier weapons, especially excellent Flak18/36/37 cal. 88 mm guns.$
$ Guns owned by Luftwaffe were deployed to protect airfields, strategically important bridges, factories and$
$railway stations.$
$ German doctrine assumed the necessity of total air superiority. In such conditions, Wehrmacht units$
$didn't have to be equipped with strong anti-aircraft units.$
