$ Rapid development of armoured and motorised units in neighbouring countries led to experimental$ $
$motorisation of a few cavalry regiments. First two joined 10th Motorised Brigade commanded by col. Maczek. $
$Mobilisation of following brigade was scheduled October 1939. Manoeuvres conducted before the war proved $
$high efficiency of motorised units in mobile combat. Unfortunately, relatively low numbers of these units $
$limited their activity to the defensive ones. Units of 10th Motorised Brigade played the crucial role in the$
$combat against German armoured troops advancing from Slovakia. Col. Maczek's soldiers delayed enemy's $
$forces by five days, giving enough time for 'Krakow' Army forces to avoid the encirclement. The brigade $
$didn't lose its battle capabilities and kept fighting Germans until 17 September. After the Soviet incursion$
$10th Brigade forces crossed the Hungarian border and were internmented. $
