Fantasy Lord is a hotseat multi-player game.

[B]attle Game starts a new game.
[L]oad Game restores a saved game.
[T]he Credits are the key to the universe.
[G]rfx Change loads a new tileset.
[E]xit to Dos is a very bad option.

During the game, use the keypad arrows (8,6,4,2)
to move the pointer. Press enter to select
something or move to something. Escape brings
you to the Game menu, where you can save, quit,
or end your turn.

To build a town, press enter on the square in
which you will build on. Select a type and a
name. You may only build a town if ONE of these
apply:
 A. It is it your starting area
 B. A group of your soldiers is next to the site

Each town costs 100 gold to build. There are five
different areas of focus to base a town upon. A
barracks town lets you send soldiers out to do
battle for 50 gold each. A trading town is used
mainly for alliances with other players, because
it lets you transfer gold based on its level. A
mining town gives you gold to spend. An outpost
town serves as a rest stop for traveling
merchants, and it gives you a profit as well as
serving as hospitality for your soldiers. An
academic town trains young wetches to be
alchemists and inventors. With their help, new
forms of weapons and defense can be invented.

When loading new graphics, you must type in the
directory of the set when it prompts you to.
An example (for me) would be if I wanted the
"Snowy" tileset. I would type
       D:\FLORD\SNOWY\
because that's where the "Snowy" tiles are.

As you can see, it's pretty simple to play, so
you can learn quick and play right now!

Q: It goes too slow!
A: You probably have a slow computer, like a 386
or low 486. Get a faster computer!

If you have a fast computer I pity you because
you have an awesome computer and can't wait
5 seconds for a new screen to pop up.

Q: I can't get it to work.
A: You have to run Fantasy Lord in the directory
of it's files. So, if you're in windows, go
to DOS or MS-DOS PROMPT and run it from there.

   Remember, you MUST use Qbasic4.5.

It might be because you are trying to get the
program to load a graphic set or map that
   doesn't exist.

Another file-not-found problem is with tiles.
When the program switches to your tile folder,
the program also expects to find saved files
there. A good idea would be to, instead of
just saving the filename alone, include the
folder with it. For example, if I switched
to the Snowy tileset, I shouldn't save my
game like this: "saved.sav". Instead, I should
   save it like this: "D:\flord\saved.sav".

-=-=-=-TO MAKE YOUR OWN GRAPHIC SETS-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Use Neo's TileEd to create the new graphics and
put them into a directory.

tree.til - Forest
marsh.til - Marsh
mount.til - Mountain
desert.til - Desert
water.til - Sea
grass.til - Plain
ftown.til - Forest Town
wtown.til - Sea Town
mtown.til - Mountain Town
dtown.til - Desert Town
gtown.til - Plain Town
rubble.til - Ruins
men.til - Soldiers

Remember to keep "pointer.til" in the directory.
Colors 0 and 16 are replaced with the background
when dealing with soldier and town tiles.
