                      ****** The Gates of Hell 2 ******

Wow, after over a month of solid programming, it is finnaly here!
The sequel to The Gates of Hell!
This game started out as a demonstration of what you can do with a raycaster
if you put your mind to it.
But that was a bit of a waist of a good idea.
So I decided to remake it from scratch, and now here it is, and its much
better. (Allthough it didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped :) )

This file is in .BAS format because I believe all QBasic source code should
be free.
But be warned, my coding is very messy and you would have a hard time making
anything of it.

                                INSTRUCTIONS

This game is set in Post Apocolptic Earth where you (the player) journeys into
the strange caves that lead into Hell.
The controls are pretty simple, use the mouse to aim your gun and the left
mouse button to shoot.
For your gun, the ammo is only 100 shells so be careful.
Through out the game, you will face demons that have big guns and will shoot
you if you don't shhot them first.
If you get shot, the screen will go red and you will loose some health.
Sometimes when you hit a demon, blood will spray out so just move the mouse
away.

You will first start in level 1: Demon Infested Caves then into level 2:
Underworld Labrynths and finnaly level 3: The Paths of Hell
At the end of this level there is a boss. He apears as a gaint skull.
He is hard to kill so be careful.

                                    STORY

The Gates of Hell is a gate into hell that opens every thousand years.
In the not so distant future the portal opened letting the demons engineer
their destruction on Earth.
In the smouldering ashes of the aftermath a lone warrior was sent into the
underworld to close the portol and stop the reign of terror.

                              MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

VGA monitor, Mouse, Sound card required,
It should work on a computer of all speeds, but if you have troubles, just
edit some of the FOR/NEXT loops.

                         NEW AND IMPROVED FEATURES

I have changed the engine, it was first a raycaster, but that was slow and it
was a hassle, so I created a new engine.
It is pretty much like those arcade shooters.
I added a cool intro that fades in and out.
I gave it in-game mouse support.
Added new graphics and inporved some of the old.
I added a textured font for the menu, instructions, story and options.
There are a lot of other features in the game so check it out. 
3 levels instead of only one!

                                   BUGS :(

1. The mouse sometimes leaves a green mark on the screen.

2. The reason that I didn't use my font inside the game is because it clears
the screen every time you use it.
(I had to bundle the entire story in one string!)

3. The backrounds didn't come out as well as I had expected, as they had to go
through a heap of crap.
First I got the images, I had to resise them to 320x200 and reduce the colour
depth from 16 million colours to 256 colours, then I had change their palette
to match mine (gamepal.pal) then I had to convert them to GIFs and then into
QBasic's BSAVE format. Phew! 

                              UPCOMING PROJECTS

After this, I'm gonna work on my new RPG called Darkness.
That should take a few months.
