1.1	Getting Started

Before you start, make sure your computer has the following:

	1 - VGA compatible
	2 - Sound Blaster 2.0 or higher
	3 - MPU401 midi card (if you don't know, don't worry)
	4 - About 1 meg
5 - Joystick (if you choose to use it instead of a keyboard)
6 - EMS support (see 4.1 for further info)
7 - Blaster environment variable set (see 4.1 for further info)

To run Sumo, type ther following at the dos prompt "sumo" or in windows just click on the sumo icon (the .bat one)

1.2	Rules of Sumo

	Rules:

1 - A sumo must not step out of the ring or on the edge of the ring or that sumo will lose the match
2 - A sumo must not touch the ground with anything but his feet (this rule does not apply to this game)

	Overview:

When you first start the match, hold down the spacebar to push the other sumo. Everytime you punch the other sumo, your stamina bar (top of the screen) goes down one incriment. Your stamina determines how hard you hit. If the npc's stamina bar gets very low, he will go into gain stamina mode and turn green. This is a window of opportunity to hit him with everything you got. When a huge yellow/yellow red type flag appears, it means a sumo was hit with a power hit. To tell which one was hit with a power hit, the tale of the "flag" points in the opposite direction of the sumo which was hit.

2.1	Menu Use

There are two different menus in sumo. To navigate throigh these menus, hit up or down on the keyboard and press enter on the selection you want. When you see "<<" or ">>" that means hit left or right for further options.

2.2	Exhibition

Exhibition is a mode that is really just practice. Select this mode to fine tune you own personal sumo technique.

2.3	VS

This mode pins two user controlled sumos against each other. In order to play this mode, you must have a keyboard and a joystick or it will look rather silly.

2.4	Tournament

This is the best mode there is. In the tournament, you fight 15 rounds. Then your score is tallied and if it is a good one, you can enter your name on the high scores.

2.5	Demo

This is just a demonstration mode, it pins two npcs against each other. You can bet on the winner with your friends.

2.6	High Scores

This shows the top four scores. The order is top to bottum.

3.1	Options

In options, you can select form the following:

Ctrl Keyboard - selects the control. Use cursor keys to change to a different control
Midi On/Off - Turns midi music on or off
Sound On/Off - Turns sound on or off
Skill Lev 1-3 - Changes the skill level with 1 being the easiest

4.1	Troubleshooting

If you hear a constant buzz, there is conflict in the sound and midi. Go to options and select the setting which you wish to turn off, midi or sound, and restart the program.

If you get an error in the context of no ems memory free, then:
	Open your config.sys
	type "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIHEM.SYS"
	type "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMMM386.EXE xxx RAM"
xxx being the ammount of ram selected for ems. Try 2000 (20 ram)

If it says no MPU401 compatable sound card, then exit the program and buy a better sound card.
