REBEL Encyclopedia Of Chess (EOC) builder for REBEL CENTURY

The EOC builder for REBEL CENTURY and its documentation
comes as is. Questions about the software will only be
        answered on REBEL-BOARD.

The building of an EOC chess tree has to be done 9 steps.
Step 6 and 7 are optional.

        1. Load (change) database (command C)
        2. Create EOC TREE for White (command W)
        3. Create EOC TREE for Black (command B)
        4. Add PLAYER data to the White Tree (command P)
        5. Add PLAYER data to the Black Tree (command P)
        6. Analyze positions in the White Tree (command A)
        7. Analyze positions in the Black Tree (command A)
        8. Rename and Close (command R)
        9. Quit program (command Q)

        General rules for understanding:

#1. The database (the source for creating an EOC) MUST be
present in the current directory. You must load (select)
this database first using the command "C" (change database).

#2. The EOC chess tree is split into a WHITE and BLACK part
this because of the right to move in a position.

#3. The second step is to build the chess tree for white
(command W) and then the third step to build the one
        for black (command B).

#4. Step 4/5 is meant to create the needed PLAYER data. This
will add the 60 most famous chess players to the chess tree.

#5. Step 6/7 are meant to add the REBEL SCORES to the chess
tree. You have to enter a FIXED TIME for each position to
be analyzed. It is adviced to use not more than 1 or 2
seconds in case you create big chess trees.

An alternative is to analyze all the positions in the chess
tree using a fixed ply-depth (such as 3 plies) typing a
        negative value.

Example: 5 analyze all positions 5 seconds fixed time.
-3 analyze all positions 3 plies deep.

If you skip step 5 and 6 (which is allowed) REBEL will not
show the scores being in the chess tree and will display
        "0.00".

#6. Step 8 will rename the internal (work) files WHITE and BLACK
to your preferred filename of the EOC chess tree. Just enter
"TEST" (for example) and load the chess tree "TEST" within
        REBEL CENTURY.

#7.	Step 9 (and last step) is to quit the program.

        Specific documentation

Create Tree for White/Black (command W/B)

You will be prompted to enter the GAME DEPTH in plies. The
default setting is 60 plies (is 30 moves). This means that
games will be truncated at 30 moves and only move 1-30 will
be stored in the chess tree.

Next you will be asked to enter the PLAYER DEPTH. It's very
important to understand what PLAYER DEPTH means. PLAYER DEPTH
(default setting is 10) will create EXTRA ENTRIES for each
case a position occurs 10 times or more in the chess tree.

These EXTRA ENTRIES will be filled in step 3/4 (add player
data) and step 5/6 (analyze positions) and enable extra
        statistic information.

The maximum for these EXTRA ENTRIES is 100,000. The program
will warn you in case this limit is crossed. If this happens
increase the PLAYER DEPTH and try again.

About "Table limit" and "Memory Usage"

The EOC builder for REBEL CENTURY comes in 3 versions as
chess trees are build in memory first before they are
        stored to hard disk.

. a 64 Mb version (requires a PC of at least 64 Mb)
. a 128 Mb version (requires a PC of at least 128 Mb)
. a 256 Mb version (requires a PC of at least 256 Mb)

The 64 Mb version allows you to create EOC chess tree of
9,000,000 positions. If this number is crossed the program
will warn you. If this happens decrease the GAME DEPTH and
        try again.

The 128 Mb version allows you to create EOC chess trees of
22,000,000 positions. If this number is crossed the program
will warn you. If this happens decrease the GAME DEPTH and
        try again.

The 256 Mb version allows you to create EOC chess trees of
44,000,000 positions. If this number is crossed the program
will warn you. If this happens decrease the GAME DEPTH and
        try again.
