Summary
-------

"Golgatha : The X-Chronicles" is a 2-D maze game based on the Commodore 64
game "Box Mania II". The premise is to advance to each successive level by
finding the key on each floor. This sounds easy, but it isn't!

Mixing elements from RPGs and adventure games, Golgatha is a fun little
romp with much to offer the common adventurer. Written in QuickBASIC 4.5,
Golgatha requires an IBM PC-compatible PC with MS-DOS 5.0 or higher (486/
50mhz SX computer and above recommended). This game is approximately 75%
complete. A level editor has just been added today (5/11/2001). From
the author of Westfront PC and Twilight of the Valkyries.

Quick Tips
----------

Select Speed: To select the speed of game, hit 'P' to pause the game,
then either '+' or '-' depending on your computer's CPU
clock speed. Adjust to a low of 1,000 jiffies and to a
              high of 50,000.

Supercharge: To 'Nuke' an Evil, touch the 'Supercharge' coin and then
run over a monster. It will turn blue and freeze, plus block
the path of other monsters (well, and you, too).

Neutrons: 'Neutrons' will eliminate 'Atomizers' one space to the right,
left,up and down of you. 'Atomizers' are bad and you lose 1
life if you touch them. Lose 3, and the game is over.

Custom levels: To add custom levels to Golgatha, enter 'E' while in
gameplay mode. You will then be taken to the 'Golgatha
Editor v1.1' screen where you can then easily add
new levels to the game. Up to 40 will be displayed
after answering 'Yes' to the 'Load external levels?'
prompt. Of course, you can have more than 40 levels
for Golgatha (levels are designated with a .GOL
extention), but that's entirely up to you! :)

Final Thoughts
--------------

I will eventually add a timing routine to this game, making adjusting
the game speed during gameplay (after pausing it) a thing of the past.
Also, I will add font routines to make Golgatha, well, easier to look
at. And finally, I will also add more tiles (water, mountain, lake,
grass, lava, etc) and new objects similar to the Atomizer and
Neutron.
