The MARVELOUS LAND of OZ
Manual
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WELCOME
Thank you for downloading this new game. This is the second game based on an Oz book by L. Frank Baum that we've made, and we really think that this is one of the best, seeing as how we've learned to use the program we make these with more. Now, this game uses over 40 locations in the gameplay, so it does take a much longer time to play than it's great predecessors "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and "The Magic Cloak of Noland." Please thoroughly read this manual.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STARTING UP

   In order to use this game pack, you must have the Dorothy and Ozma Productions Game Set #1. If you don't have it, download it at http://dorothyozma.topcities.com in the downloads page. Anyways, once you hve this, make sure all files are in the same directory as the game set. Start PLAY.EXE and type MLOZ to start. Or you can just start MLOZ.bat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SEEING  MAPS
   The Land of Oz is very big, so you'll want a map. Start MAP.EXE and type MLOZ to see maps of all the locations. Press P to print it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MOVING
   In this game, there are blocks, which means a direction can be taken one time, but perhaps not again, or not used all of the time. Anyways, there are four directions to move: NORTH (N), SOUTH (S), EAST (E), and WEST (W). However, in some select locations, you can type CLIMB UP or CLIMB DOWN. (Note that UP and DOWN are not supported by this program, and take special programming. So, it takes a second to use these directions. In the future, we may use these more.)

COMMANDING OTHER CHARACTERS

   This game has some commands that will enable you to control other character than Dorothy. If we told you the exact commands, you would go through the game too easily! So here are the command verbs that you can have other characters do:

swing axe
release mice
swallow pill
count
fly
scatter straw
jack ride
Glinda catch

   If you want a character to do something, use their name, the the command for them. NO COMMAS. Example: JACK RIDE SAWHORSE. If you want them to use an item, use the command, THEN use their name. NO COMMAS. Example: SWING AXE NICK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
COMMANDS:
   Making commands is very simple! You type the command and the object that you want to act on, for example, TAKE JACK KNIFE, UNSTUFF SCARECROW.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CONVERSATION AND EXAMINING

   You should talk to everyone, everytime they pop up! Just type TALK TO and then the character's name. Example: TALK TO NICK. If they refuse to speak, try again later.
HINT: If you're hiding, don't talk to anyone.

IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS

   There are some ways you may get into an impossible spot. You may find that you left something behind that you needed and can't go back and get it. You would RESTORE an old saved game (see below) or RESTART the game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SAVING AND RESTORING GAMES
   You may want to save your game, so you can type SAVE to save, and RESTORE to restore an old game. Each game is represented by a number, so you'll want to keep a record of your games.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BUGS, GLITCHES, CONTACT, OH MY!

   This game is bound to have a few glitches, so you might get into a strange, impossible spot. If you do, RESTART the game or RESTORE a saved game. Don't forget to report bugs by e-mail dorothyandozma@hotmail.com so we can try to fix it. Also, let us know how you like the game. And send ideas for our upcoming releases, "John Dough & the Cherub," "Ozma of Oz," (but don't expect it too soon!) and other Oz or Oz-related games! Also in the works, a better version of our first game "My Adventure in Oz."
~~~Here I would like to thank Andrew Davis~~~
Who helped program, tested it time and time again
~~~and gave us some very good suggestions.~~~
