BSD/OS 4.3 Internet Install Beta

NOTICE: YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM WIND RIVER SYSTEMS PRIOR TO USING
THIS INSTALL BETA. ANY OTHER USE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

This is a beta of the BSD/OS installation via the internet.

This beta is limited to FTP access in active mode only. The target
machine may be behind a NAT box and/or firewall, as long as it can
use FTP to transfer files via the internet.

This installation directory is located at:

	Host: ftp.bsdi.com
	User: install
	Password: bsdnet

To install this beta, download (using BINARY download) the Install
Floppy image "floppy.img" located in this directory. Create a floppy
disk with this image and name it "BSD/OS Network Install". Under BSD/OS
and most UNIX like systems you can use the command:

	dd if=floppy.img of=/dev/rfd0c bs=18k

Verify that the machine on which you are going to install this beta is
connected to the network. Insert the "BSD/OS Network Install" floppy
into the target machine and boot from floppy.

You will be asked for and be able to provide:

o The IP address and Network Mask to be assigned to the target machine

o The IP address of the gateway machine to allow access to the internet

o Optionally the IP address of a local DNS server. The install will
use the Wind River BSD Engineering's DNS server by default.

o Optionally the URL from which to load this distribution. At this
time the default URL provided by the installation software is the
        only available URL: ftp://install:bsdnet@ftp.bsdi.com/bsdos4.3

Follow the instructions provided by the installation screens.
