Ghostscript archive files:

To create a ghostscript application for QNX4, download the file
ghostscript-5.50-ph.tgz, which contains the following files:

	ghostscript-5.50.gnu.tgz
	ghostscript-5.50.jpeg.tgz
	ghostscript-5.50.libpng.tgz
	ghostscript-5.50.zlib.tgz
	ghostscript-fonts-other-5.50.tgz
	ghostscript-fonts-std-5.50.tgz
	ghostscript-photon-5.50.tgz
	ghostscript.1step-install
	ghostscript.README
	
The file 'ghostscript-5.50-X_src.tgz' contains the unchanged original source and 
is not necessary unless you want to create some X-Window drivers.

Or, for the more cautious, unpack the ph.tgz archive using zcat and pax
as shown below and then follow the 5 steps below:

1) Unpack the "ghostscript-photon-5.50.tar.gz".

   -->    zcat ghostscript-photon-5.50.tar.gz | pax -rv 

   This will create a "gs5.50" directory with almost all the necessary 
   files to compile the program.
   
2) Unpack the additional modules:

   --> zcat ghostscript-5.50.gnu.tar.gz    | pax -rv 
   --> zcat ghostscript-5.50.jpeg.tar.gz   | pax -rv 
   --> zcat ghostscript-5.50.libpng.tar.gz | pax -rv 
   --> zcat ghostscript-5.50.zlib.tar.gz   | pax -rv 
   
   
3) Enter the directory and make the appropriate version on your system:

   --> cd gs5.50
   --> make

4) Once the program has finished compiling, it is necessary to 
   install the libraries.  By default, the libraries will be 
   placed in the "/usr/local/lib/ghostscript/5.50" directory;

   and the executables (i.e.
				bdftops
				dvipdf
				font2c
				gs
				gsbj
				gsdj
				gsdj500
				gslj
				gslp
				gsnd
				pdf2dsc
				pdf2ps
				printafm
				ps2ascii
				ps2epsi
				ps2pdf
				ps2ps
				wftopfa
		    and "gs")  

   in "/usr/local/bin".
      ================

   Check that this will not clobber anything important, and type:

   -->   su root
   -->   make install
    
5) Change directories to "/usr/local/lib/ghostscript" and install the fonts.

   -->  cd /usr/local/lib/ghostscript
   -->  zcat ghostscript-fonts-std.tar.gz | pax -rv
   -->  zcat ghostscript-fonts-other.tar.gz | pax -rv

NOTE: To display postscript or PDF files on a photon screen you can create a
   script like this:
   
   /usr/local/bin/gsview
   
     #!/bin/sh
     exec gs  $* quit.ps
	 
   You have to switch from page to page with the CR in the pterm window,
   where you issued the gs/gsview command.

the photon helpviewer).
