Installing the WinTab Driver for Windows
========================================

To install the WinTab driver for your Windows, please complete the
following steps:

1. In Windows 95 and WIndows NT 4.x, click the Start button to open the
Start menu (or press <CTRL> + <ESC>). In Windows Nt 3.x and Windows
3.x, open the File menu on the menu bar of the Program Manager. Then
click Run (or use the <UP> or <DOWN> arrow key to select Run and then
        then press <ENTER>).
2. The Run dialog box appears. Put the Drivers/Utilities diskette
in your floppy drive. In the Open box,(for Windows 3.x, in the
Command Line box), you will need to change the name to A:\WINSETUP.EXE
(where A is the letter designating your floppy drive). Then click
        OK (or press <Enter>).
3. Follow the instructions on the screen. This installation program
will install the WinTab driver of the tablet for Windows.
4. After the installation program completes the install procedure,
you can now exit the Windows and power off the computer. Connect
the tablet to your computer. Then power on the computer and restart
        the Windows.

Now you can run your Windows with the tablet only or your tablet can
coexist with another pointing device such as a mouse or trackball.

Note : In Windows NT 4.0, before logon progress is finished or after
you start shutdown process, the tablet can not work.

Note : In Windows NT, if the tablet doesn't work after you restart the
system, the Wintab driver may be disabled by system for some
reason. You may use the Windows NT Control Panel to enable
the Wintab driver by following step :

        1. Open the Windows NT Control Panel and find the Service icon.
        2. Open the Service icon and find the item wintab32 in the list
           box window.
        3. Select the item wintab32 and click the Startup button.

on the Programs menu and add a Tablet Control Panel to this ACECAD folder.

In Windows NT 3.x, the program will automatically create a group called
ACECAD and add a Tablet Control Panel to this ACECAD group.

In Windows 95/3.x, the Tablet Control Panel named ACECAD Tablet will be added
to the Control Panel of Windows 95/3.x.

You can use the Tablet Control Panel to customize your tablet settings
such as the Tracking Area, Button Assignments, etc. for even greater ease
of use. Please refer to the User's Guide for the details.

Note : In Windows NT 4.0, some Serial Device error messages may be
generated. Please disregard them, they are normal and the tablet
        still can work properly.

Note : In Windows NT 4.0, you must move your mouse or press any key to
clear the screen saver. You can not use the tablet to clear the
screen saver. After clearing the screen saver, the tablet still
        work properly.

Note : If you change the installed mouse driver using Windows NT Setup
after you installed the WinTab driver for Windows NT of the tablet,
the WinTab driver for your tablet may be disabled. You may either run
WINSETUP.EXE again to install the tablet driver, or use the Windows NT
Control Panel to enable the driver.

To enable a disable driver of the tablet in Control Panel of Windows
NT, open the Devices icon and find your disabled driver items
"wtACECAD" and "WTClass" on the list. Select one driver item each

General Troubleshooting Solutions
=================================

Generally your tablet is easy to setup and use. However, if the tablet does
not work properly with your system or software application, the check-list
and solutions discussed below will help you resolve most difficulties.

Problem: You already install the tablet for your system or application
but the screen cursor does not respond at all to the tablet's
pointing device (stylus-pen or cursor-puck) movements.
Solution: Use the ATEST program to ensure your tablet is functioning
                correctly.

If the tablet fails during the test, please check each of the
following items to be sure your system is set up correctly.

                * Are all of your plugs connected securely and correctly?
                * Is the RS-232C cable inserted into the correct communication
                  port on your computer?
                * Is the power to the tablet on?
                * Verify that you do not have another device configured to the
IRQ settings you are testing for.

If the tablet works correctly during the test, please verify
that your tablet is connected to the same serial port as the
one you indicated in the installation of the tablet for your
system or software application. Then try to start your system
                or application again.
