The programs in this archive allow you to use the SmartVU display on
a Dell computer under OS/2 2.0.

Installation instructions:
    1.  Copy the file PORTIO.DLL to a directory listed in your LIBPATH
        statement.

    2.  Copy the files SMVUDRVR.EXE and SMARTVU.EXE to a directory
        listed in your PATH statement.

    3.  Create a file named STARTUP.CMD in the root directory of your
        boot drive. The STARTUP.CMD file should contain the following
        statements:

            detach smvudrvr machineType
            exit

        machineType is an optional parameter that is used to specify
        the system type. Following is a list of valid system types:

            4xxDE   ... 4xxDE,4xxSE systems (default).
            486D    ... 486D/xx,486P/xx systems.

    4.  Make sure that the command "IOPL=YES" is present
        in your CONFIG.SYS file.

    The SmartVU display will be enabled the next time you reboot
    your machine.

Description of files:
    PORTIO.DLL   : This dynamic link library contains the functions
                   used to access the i/o ports.

    SMVUDRVR.EXE : SmartVU display driver program. This program should
                   be run as a detached background process by typing
                   "detach smvudrvr" at the OS/2 command prompt.

    SMARTVU.EXE  : This program sends messages to the SmartVu display
                   driver, telling the SmartVU display driver to
                   perform the specified action.

                   Usage: SMARTVU action [msg]

                   action can be one of the following:

                   date     ... Display the current date.
                   time     ... Display the current time.
                   datetime ... Alternate between the current
                                date and time.
                   shutdown ... Terminate the SmVuDrvr program.
                   blank    ... Blank out the SmartVU display.
                   message  ... Display a scrolling message. The
                                message to be displayed is contained
                                in the msg parameter and must be
                                surrounded by quotes.
                   memory   ... Display current free memory value (in MB).
                   swapsize ... Display the current swap file size (in MB).
                                The msg parameter must contain the full
                                pathname of the swap file.
                   memswap  ... Alternate between free memory and current swap
                                file size. The full name of the swap file is
                                contained in the msg parameter.
                   all      ... Alternate between current time, current date,
                                free memory, and current swap file size. The
                                full name of the swap file is contained in the
                                msg parameter.
