HP Notebook 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter Installation for Windows 2000 If you have installed retail Windows and your HP Notebook contains a built-in 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter, you need to install the LAN drivers. The LAN drivers are contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\W2K\LAN subdirectory. Installing the Driver: 1. Make sure that the 3Com network adapter is connected to the network. 2. Open the Device Manager: Right-click on My Computer and select Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. 3. Double-click "Ethernet Controller", under "other devices". 4. Click Reinstall Driver on the General tab. 5. Click Next on the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" screen. 6. Select 3COM 10\100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter and click Next. 11. Click Next to begin installation of driver. 12. Click Finish. 13. Close the Device Properties and the Device Manager. Updating the Driver: You may need to update your driver if another version of the network driver is made available. 1. Open the Windows Start menu, select Settings, and then select Control Panel. 2. Double-click the System icon. 3. Select the Device Manager tab. A list of devices appears, arranged by type. 4. Double-click Network Adapters. 5. Double-click 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter. The 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter Properties window appears. 6. Select the Driver tab. 7. Click Update Driver and provide the path to the updated driver.
