Read Me File for Windows 3.1x ------------------------------- This file contains: * Minimum System Requirements * Information to Read Before You Start Installing * Warnings * Instructions for Automatic Installation * Registration Instructions * Instructions for Disconnecting * Instructions for Obtaining Technical Support MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS --------------------------- For a successful installation, your system must meet these requirements: * 486 or better PC-compatible computer * 12 MB RAM * 16 MB RAM to run Java applications * 25-62 MB free hard disk space (depending on add-on components selected) * Modem with minimum speed of 14.4 kbps (28.8 kbps or faster recommended) BEFORE YOU INSTALL ------------------ Before you install the Frontier GlobalCenter Setup Program: * Exit all Windows programs that are running on your computer. * Read the Frontier GlobalCenter User Agreement. WARNINGS ---------------- The Frontier GlobalCenter(R) Setup will install the following software on your system: * Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 4.01 * Microsoft(R) Outlook Express mail and news client Do not proceed with the installation if: * You are on a TCP/IP-based Local Area Network (LAN). Running the Frontier GlobalCenter Setup may affect your current network settings. Consult your LAN Administrator before you proceed with this installation. * You do not want to upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01. * You want to use a Web browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer. You must have already installed the browser and a dialer on your system. Instead of using the automatic Setup, call a Frontier GlobalCenter Representative at 1-800-530-5045 to obtain an account. Once you obtain a Frontier GlobalCenter account, you can proceed set up your account by using the Configuration Parameters in the file named manual.txt in the Readme folder on the Frontier GlobalCenter CD-ROM. INSTALLATION NOTES ---------------------------------- This section provides instructions for Frontier GlobalCenter installation and account setup using the Frontier GlobalCenter Setup program. >From the Windows Program Manager, go to the File menu in the upper left corner of your screen and select Run. Type d:\setup.exe (where d is the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive) in the Command Line box and click on OK. Respond to all prompts appropriately. Use the Help buttons at any time during the installation for more detailed information. When the software has been installed, your computer will REBOOT. If it does not do so automatically, then you must manually reboot before continuing! After your computer restarts, you need to connect to the Internet and follow the Registration instructions below. REGISTRATION ------------ After completing the installation, your system is configured and you are ready to begin the Frontier GlobalCenter registration process. This process creates your Frontier GlobalCenter account and obtains billing information. To start the registration process, double click on the Set Up Internet Connection icon in the Microsoft Internet Explorer program group. Continue the registration. Fill in the appropriate information as requested. When registration is complete, your system will be configured with your username, password, and local access telephone number. DISCONNECTING ------------- When you're finished using the Internet, close all of your open Internet applications and then double-click the Connected to Frontier GlobalCenter icon to display the Connected to Frontier GlobalCenter window. Click on Disconnect. After a few seconds, the Connect To window will redisplay. Click on the Close button.
