I'm having problems with my CD key, what do I do?:

There have been some questions on the forums concerning CD keys.

While the actual reported instances of problems logging onto Battle.net have been few in number, we feel that it is important to address some of these questions.

Here are some simple rules to follow to protect your CD key:

    • Do not give your CD key number to anyone. Blizzard employees will not ask for your CD key number unless you are contacting us about problems specific to your CD key
(Blizzard employs on Battle.net have a Blizzard logo).
    • Do not buy a copy of Starcraft if the original seal has been broken.
    • Do not rent a copy of Starcraft.
    • Keep your CD key in a safe place should you need to re-install your copy of Starcraft.
    • Do not use pirated or posted CD key numbers.

    How to report problems

When you contact Blizzard, you must have the following information ready for our representatives:

    • Your Name
    • Your Address
    • Your Phone Number and area code
    • The store (and its location) where you purchased Starcraft
    • Your CD Key number
    • Please have your Starcraft box (with all contents) available

It is very important that if you receive a message stating that someone is already using your CD key on Battle.net that you (i) record the name of that person; and (ii) note the date and time that you attempted to log on.
