To check the modem settings:
- Click on the "Start Button"
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on "Control Panel"
- Double-click on the "Modem" icon
- If you don't see your specific modem listed, try installing the manufacturer's drivers. Always make sure you have the most recent driver available from your modem/computer manufacturer.
- Click on the "Properties" button
- Click on the "Connection" tab
- Click on the "Advanced" button
- Make sure that "Use flow control" is set to "Hardware" and "Use error control" is set to "Compress data".
