US Robotics Sportster Modems:
- Click on "Start"
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on "Control Panel"
- Click on "Modem"
- Click on "Properties"
- Click on the "Connection" tab
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Make sure that Use Flow Control is checked, and set to Hardware.
- Make sure "Error Control" is set to Compress Data.
- Then, add to the extra settings field S12=0 and S0=4.
- S0=4: Makes the modem wait for the 4th ring before picking up the call.
- S12=0: Sets the modem delay to 0.
- If your US Robotics Sportster Modem is a PnP Modem, then make sure you have removed all the jumpers on the modem board.
MWave sound/modem card:
- IBM Aptivas with MWave modem/sound cards may experience difficulty, especially joining multi-player games via modem.
- Contact IBM at: www.ibm.com for the latest software update for their MWave DSP which includes support for TAPI and Direct X.
