This is the Debian GNU/Linux prepackaged version of the GNU accounting
utilities. The GNU accounting utilities are: ac, accton, last, lastcomm and
sa. They were written by Noel Cragg <noel@gnu.ai.mit.edu>. In order to use
lastcomm and sa, you need either a kernel more recent than 1.3.72 (which now
include the accounting patch), or an 1.3.x kernel that is patched to support
process accounting. The accounting patches can be found at
	ftp://iguana.hut.fi/pub/linux/Kernel/Patches
While the program last can be built from these acct sources, is not included
as the Debian sysvinit package already supplies one.

This package was put together by Dirk Eddelbuettel <edd@qed.econ.queensu.ca>
from sources obtained from:
	ftp://alpha.gnu.ai.mit.edu:/gnu/acct-6.2.tar.gz

Please note that this package is still considered ALPHA by its author,
although we have never experienced any problems with it. The author gave
us permission to include it in Debian GNU/Linux.
