USB Ethernet adapter support resides on the top of USB Base stack and requires this stack to be installed before network support can be used. OS/2 USB Ethernet support is limited to adapters based on Kawasaki LSI KL5KUSB101 chipset. Support softeare was tested on 3COM USB Network Interface (3C19250), D-Link Corp. USB Ethernet Adapter (DSB-650) and ADS Technologies Inc. USB Ethernet Adapter (USB-10BT). 2.0 Installation Instructions ------------------------------- Basic USB Device Driver Stack that consists of USB Host Controller Driver (for example USB Universal Host Controller Driver USBUHCD.SYS) and USB Driver (USBD.SYS) must be installed before the USB Ethernet Adapter Support installation. 1. The USB Ethernet adapter support software consists of the following files: - USBETHR.OS2 NDIS compliant network adapter driver. - USBETHR.NIF Network adapter configuration file - README.TXT This file that you are reading Copy these files to the hard disk or floppy disk. 2. open MPTS - Network Adapters and Protocol Services (click right mouse button on desktop, select 'System setup' menu, double click on MPTS icon in System Setup window); 3. press 'Configure' button; 4. select 'LAN adapter and protocols'; and press 'Configure' button; 5. press 'Other adapters' button; fill out path to USB Ethernet adapter driver files (use default path A: if support files are copied to floppy disk in drive A:) and press OK; 6. update vendor/device IDs card parameters dialog; use the following identification IDs: +-----------------------------------------------------+---------+---------+ | Adapter |Vendor ID|Device ID| +-----------------------------------------------------+---------+---------+ |3COM USB Network Interface (3C19250) * | 0506 | 03E8 | |D-Link Corp. Add required protocols from the 'Protocols' list to the USB Ethernet adpater; 8. Press 'OK' button to close 'Adapter and Protocol Configuration' dialog; 9. Press 'Close' button to close 'Configure' dialog; 9. Press 'Exit' button to close MPTS utility; 10. Reboot the operating system. 3.0 Uninstall Instructions --------------------------- 1. open MPTS - Network Adapters and Protocol Services (click right mouse button on desktop, select 'System setup' menu, double click on MPTS icon in System Setup window); 2. press 'Configure' button; 3. select 'LAN adapter and protocols'; and press 'Configure' button; 4. select all protocols associated with USB Ethernet adapapter in 'Current Configuration' adapter list, press 'Remove' button for each protocol; 5. select USB Ethernet adapapter in 'Current Configuration' adapter list, press 'Remove' button; 6. Press 'OK' button to close 'Adapter and Protocol Configuration' dialog; 7. Press 'Close' button to close 'Configure' dialog; 8. Press 'Exit' button to close MPTS utility; 9.
