PRNANDIS is IBM's Parallel Port NDIS MAC. To use PRNANDIS configure the Parallel Port MAC through LAPS, follow the steps in the Tuning section below, REBOOT your computer, and run PRANDISC.EXE. PRANDISC.EXE is located in the IBMCOM subdirectory on the drive where MPTN has been installed. You should switch cables before running PRANDISC and after ending PRANDISC. Your parallel port will be disabled for printing while PRANDISC is running. NOTE ---- The IBM Parallel Port (PRNANDIS.OS2) MAC driver's performance differs from the typical LAN connection (Token-Ring, Ethernet) MAC driver's performance. The IBM Parallel Port driver is only meant to be used for casual file transfers. HARDWARE SUPPORT _____________________ PRNANDIS is written to run in IBM PC/AT and IBM PS/2 and these compatibles. PRNANDIS supports the following cables to connect two machines. o PPLINK fullduplex cable o LAPLINK/INTERLNK cable o JFACOMM halfduplex cable "PPLINK fullduplex cable" only works in a machine which has PS/2 style "bidirectional" port. You may change the capability of the parallel port of your machines by changing DIP switch, jumper, or machine setup programs. Some parallel port adapters interchange the term "PS/2" with "bidirectional", and are not truly PS/2 compatible. These adapters will not work with the "PPLINK fullduplex cable". NETBIOS AND LAN SERVER TUNING ________________________________ Due to the speed differences between LAN adapters and the parallel port, the following changes to configuration files need to be made to use this MAC: 1. In PROTOCOL.INI (located in the IBMCOM directory on the drive where MPTN is installed) [NETBEUI_nif] ADAPTRATE = 0 TI = 60000 T1 = 10000 T2 = 2000 MAXIN = 5 MAXOUT = 5 2. In IBMLAN.INI (located in the IBMLAN directory on the drive where OS/2 PEER or LAN Server/Requester is installed) [requester] sesstimeout = 300 [peer] ; The next lines help you to locate bits in the srvheuristics entry. ; 1 V Bit 15 changed to 2 to increase timeout ; 0123456789012345678 srvheuristics = 1111014111131102133 CABLE WIRING DIAGRAMS ________________________________ Please keep it open if the pin has "N.C." mark.
