------- eCSguide installation instructions for Java development ------- Start WiseMachine Utility > Selective Install > Additional Applications > eCSBonusPak > Java13dev -------- Manual installation instructions ------------------------ Downloading and Installing a Self-extracting ZIP File Note: You cannot have Netscape running while installing the Developer Kit. If you do, your installation will fail. 1.Create a subdirectory to store the self-extracting ZIP file on your hard drive. 2.Return to the Download page and click on the download link for the file you want to download. 3.Your browser displays a message that a file is being downloaded. Select "Save File..." and save the file in the subdirectory you created. 4.After downloading the file to the same directory, you will need to execute the self-extracting ZIP file. Execute the file by typing the file name at a command prompt from within the directory that you downloaded the file. Note: Use the -o option if you are extracting more than one self-extracting ZIP file. The -o option overwrites duplicate files. For example, if the file downloaded is named ABC.EXE, at a command prompt type: ABC -o After the file has been unzipped and the files extracted, at the command prompt type: INSTALL The INSTALL command starts the product installation and opens a window with language buttons specifying the installation languages. Choose the language you prefer and then follow the step-by-step process for installation. ------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Languages The following languages are supported at installation through the Feature Install process: Brazilian Portuguese International English Spanish Chinese: Simplified French Italian Chinese: Traditional (Taiwan) German Japanese Note: ZIP files do not use the Feature Install process and do not support the installation languages. ------------------------------------------------------------- Hardware Requirements: A minimum of 32 MB of random access memory (RAM) generally provides the best results when running the Developer Kit applications.> A minimum of 48 MB of RAM is recommended for applets running within a browser using the Java Plug-in. IBM strongly recommends using an Intel(R) Pentium(R) (or comparable) processor or later for all OS/2 systems. A 256-color mode (or greater) monitor. The Developer Kit does not support Java applications and applets using the Abstract Window Toolkit (AWT) in 16-color mode. An HPFS-formatted or JFS-formatted drive if you plan to install the Toolkit component or the Samples component.
