G.Diehl ISDN (EICON) ISDN Card Installation for Windows NT (1.05) ================================================================= Contents -------- 1 Summary 2 Installation on Windows NT 4.0 (Shell Update Release) 3 Installation of the DIVAPro card 4 Installation of the Maestra card 5 Known problems 6 Release notes 7 Registered trademarks 8 Copyright 1 Summary --------- The following text provides information for the installation of G.Diehl ISDN (EICON) ISDN cards which has changed or has been added since the time when the manual was printed. !!! Please always refer to the printed manual first !!! 2 Installation on Windows NT 4.0 (SUR) -------------------------------------- The version 4.0 of Windows NT (also known as Shell Update Release) has a new graphical user interface. Therefore adding, removing and configuring network cards and drivers has slightly changed: - the CAPI 2.0 driver has now to be added and configured as 'Protocol'. - the REMOVE script has now to be invoked with 'Add Service'. 3 Installation of the DIVAPro card ---------------------------------- There are no settings on the card itself. The configuration of the interrupt number and the IO address is made completely by the software. The installation of the software for the DIVAPro can be done following the instructions for the DIVA card in the manual. The only difference is the number of interrupts that can be chosen. The Plug & Play functionality of the DIVAPro card is not supported by Windows NT. Therefore interrupt and IO address have to be chosen manually. 4 Installation of the Maestra card ---------------------------------- There are no settings on the card itself. The configuration of the interrupt number and the IO address is made completely by the software. The installation of the software for the Maestra can be done following the instructions for the SCOM card in the manual. Differences are the number of interrupts that can be chosen and the fact that the Maestra has an IO address instead of a memory address. The Plug & Play functionality of the Maestra card is not supported by Windows NT. Therefore interrupt and IO address have to be chosen manually. 5 Known problems ----------------- - Due to some limitations that we are not able to influence, you can only attach a maximum of 1 PCMCIA card to a card driver. This means that you cannot have installed more than 1 DIVA/PCM card in a system. In addition the card number (the number shown in square brackets in the list of installed adapters) for a PCMCIA card must not exceed 9. Otherwise the card will fail to load because the PCMCIA controller in this case is not programmed correctly by the system. You can influence the card number indirectly by the order in which you install the components. - If you changed the parameter Card Name from the configuration window while executing the function Configure... or Update the appropriate modification to the adapter list of the Network Settings window doesn't take place immediately because the list is not refreshed when returning from these functions. The changes become apparent as soon as you close and reopen the Network Settings window. - If you change the ISDN-Protocol of an intelligent card with the function Configure... or Update, the modification to the lists of the Network Settings window doesn't take place immediately. This causes the affected components to be not selectable, which means that their description is not displayed and trying to invoke an operation for them leads to an error message along these lines: Component Key missing from Configuration Registry. The changes become apparent as soon as you close and reopen the Network Settings window. - The remove script fails to delete the subdirectory "diehlisd" that has been created in the Windows NT drivers directory to store the G.Diehl ISDN (EICON) driver files if another application currently also uses this directory. The script causes a non-critical error along these lines: Cannot delete the subdirectory because there were still files in it. In such a situation, choose Ignore and manually delete the directory \System32\drivers\diehlisd. 6 Release notes ---------------- Version 1.00 - 1.02: Beta versions Version 1.03 ( 1. 7.95): Initial release version Beta versions can be updated by executing the function "Update" for all installed components. After this you should check the configuration of the CAPI 2.0 driver. They now were installed automatically. - The G.Diehl ISDN (EICON) components that were installed with the function Add Adapter... have been moved to the root directory of the installation diskette.
