Installation Instructions for Lexmark Network Ports and MarkVision
------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Copy MONITOR.INF from this directory (\DRVLIB\PRINT\LEXMARK) to
    the Windows NT SYSTEM32 directory by issuing the following command
    at a command prompt:

    COPY MONITOR.INF %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32


2.  Open the Printers folder by clicking on Start and selecting
    Settings -> Printers.


3.  Double-click on Add Printer to add a new printer that will
    use a Lexmark Network Port or
    select File -> Server Properties from the Printers folder menu
    to display Print Server Properties.


4.  If you are using Print Server Properties via the
    File -> Server Properties menu selection to add a Lexmark
    Network Port, click on the Ports tab and then, skip to step #6 below.


5.  Select My Computer for the new printer and click on Next.


6.  Click on Add Port and select:

    Lexmark DLC Network Port to add a DLC port or
    Lexmark TCP/IP Network Port to add a TCP/IP port and
    to install the MarkVision Printer Utility.

    Once you select the type of port to install, click on OK
    to proceed with the installation of the port.


7.  Follow the directions that appear on your screen to complete
    the installation.  If you need more information during the
    installation, click on Help.


8.  After installing a Lexmark TCP/IP Network Port, you may
    use the MarkVision Printer Utility to configure, monitor
    and manage all of your Lexmark printers on your network.
    To access the MarkVision Printer Utility, click on Start and
    select Programs -> MarkVision Printer Utility ->
    MarkVision Printer Utility.


9.  After installing a Lexmark DLC Network Port, you may use
    the Lexmark Network Printer Utility to manage Lexmark
    DLC Network Ports.  To access the Lexmark Network Printer Utility,
    click on Start and select Programs -> Lexmark Utilities ->
    Network Printer Utility.


10. To configure the Lexmark DLC Network Port monitor and
    the MarkVision Server, use the Lexmark Port Monitor applet
    in Control Panel.


GENERAL INSTALLATION NOTES:
---------------------------

1.  When you install a Lexmark DLC Network Port
    or a Lexmark TCP/IP Network Port for the first time,
    several files need to be copied from the Windows NT CD-ROM.
    If this CD-ROM is not avaiable at the time of this installation,
    you will be prompted to specify a path to the Windows NT CD-ROM.


2.  In order to install and use Lexmark DLC Network Ports, the DLC
    Protocol must already be installed.  For more information
    on installing the DLC Protocol, please refer to your
    Windows NT documentation or the Windows NT online help.


3.  In order to install and use Lexmark TCP/IP Network Ports, the
    TCP/IP Protocol must already be installed.  For more information
    on installing the TCP/IP Protocol, please refer to your
    Windows NT documentation or the Windows NT online help.


4.  If you wish to uninstall the MarkVision Printer Utility,
    use the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to do so.
