Installing Norton Agent on target machines

Main Page
Topics

Norton System Center includes a Norton Agent install program (AGNTINST.EXE) that runs on target machines. The install program creates a \NAGENT folder, copies the necessary files, then starts the Norton Agent.

How to install Norton Agent

You can automate the installation process for both Windows NT and Windows 95/98 machines. You can also use a NetWare login script to distribute and install Norton Agent. Norton Agent can also be installed from a standard floppy disk, or administrators can send the install program out via email and ask end users to run it manually.

Installation options

AGNTINST is typically run without options to install the Norton Agent silently on target machines. By default, it does not display any confirmation or status information on the target machine. The following command-line options, however, are available:

\U Remove the NSDU 2.0 agent
\R Replace a currently installed or running agent
\V Verbose display status
\INF:<file> Specify an alternate install information file
