IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT HP NETSTATION SOFTWARE 8.0 INSTALLATION !! 1. Using Multiple Versions of HP Netstation Software: Installing HP Netstation Software 8.0 has no effect on existing versions of HP Netstation Software 7.1 or ENWARE 6.0, but any previous HP Netstation Software 8.0 installation is overwritten by default. For example, if an HP Netstation Software release labeled 8.02 becomes available in the future, installing HP Netstation Software 8.02 would overwrite HP Netstation Software 8.01 by default. Most users will want to use this default, but if you want to override the default and run different HP Netstation Software versions in parallel, do the following: a) Ensure you have sufficient disk space to maintain two full versions. (Each additional version requires approximately 40 MB of disk space. Only files in /opt/hpxt/enware2/xthome are replaced from one version to another. Any other files under /opt/hpxt/enware2 are shared between versions. b) Create or touch the /opt/hpxt/enware2/Multi_version file. For Sun systems, create or touch the /opt/hpxt/enware2/multiversion file. c) Install HP Netstation Software 8.0, as described in the following sections. If the HP Netstation Software installation script detects the "Multi_version" file, all new HP Netstation Software files are placed in a separate directory. After the installation, all Netstations will continue to use the current version unless you explicitly switch them over individually, or upgrade the entire site. For more information about HP Netstation Software versioning, refer to Chapter 2 in the HP Netstation Software Technical Reference manual. Note that HP Netstation Software versioning does not apply to IBM AIX systems. Consult your "smit" documentation for alternatives. (End of Important Notes) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Complete installation instructions for each platform are included in the "HP Netstation Software 8.0 Installation Guide" that accompanied your CD-ROM.
