Did you want a graphical interface?
-----------------------------------
If you are running the X Window System or OpenWindows,
the graphical utility starts unless the windowing system
has a problem.

If you are running SoftLoad remotely, allow other hosts to access
your workstation. On your workstation, type

	xhost +

Before you start SoftLoad on the remote workstation,
set your display variable, usually

	setenv DISPLAY <hostname>:0
	<install_dir>/bin.<xxx>/softload

If you receive any error messages while running SoftLoad with
remote workstations, verify that you have rsh or remsh permissions
on the remote workstation by typing rsh <hostname>. If you are
prompted for a password on <hostname>, you do not have rsh or
remsh permissions on <hostname>.

Note: An option not selectable at this time might be
      available after you load products.

Load Available Products
-----------------------
Select this option to install the Cadence products on your
disk for reasons such as these:

o This is the first time you are installing software from this
    CD-ROM.

o You received a new license file.

o You are adding more products from your current CD-ROM.

o You deleted existing software in a directory so that you can
install the new software from a different CD-ROM (or release)
    in the same directory.

Note: If you select Load Available Products, you do not have to
install any products. You can always return to the Main Menu.

List Installed Products
-----------------------
Select this option to list the products that are installed on this
workstation or that failed to install properly.

Remove Products
---------------
Select this option to delete products for reasons such as these:

o You want to install the software from a new CD-ROM in the same
directory as older software. If the existing software is not
from the same CD-ROM, you must delete existing software before
    installing the new software.

o You run out of disk space and want to remove some of the
    products from this workstation.

Note: If your Cadence products are on multiple platforms, use the
installation utility for the platform of the products you want
to remove. For example, to remove Cadence products for the Sun
platform, use the Sun version of SoftLoad, such as
      install_dir/install/bin.sun/softload.

Configure Installed Products
----------------------------
Select this option to configure the products after you install them.

You cannot configure all products from SoftLoad.

To read the online documentation without configuring your
products, see the Cadence Installation Guide for more information.

Test Installed Products
-----------------------
Select this option to test the products after you install and
configure them.

For more information, see the
-----------------------------

  o Cadence Installation Guide

o Software Installation and License Management Reference in
the Cadence Configuration Guide. You can look at the reference
with OpenBook on a graphics terminal if you install OpenBook,
the Cadence online documentation system. See the Cadence
    Installation Guide for other alternatives.

The installation information contains the license file and other
information that you received either via e-mail or on tape. SoftLoad
processes the entire file (header and the text) and places the
license file and information in the correct location.

E-mail or The e-mail contains your product licenses and
Work Order installation information (including the e-mail header)
in a format designed to be read by SoftLoad. The
subject line of the e-mail identifies its unique
Work Order number. If you received several e-mails
for one work order number, save the e-mails as one
file. SoftLoad sorts them into the correct order.

If you have already installed a Work Order, that
                work order number is displayed.

Type the full absolute path to the file.

If SoftLoad has problems with your e-mail file,
                check these:

o The e-mail file must have read permission.

o The e-mail file cannot have extra spaces or
characters. If someone forwarded the file to
you, remove the spaces or characters their
mail program might have added. Remove them
and try again or locate the original e-mail
                      and use it.

                    o Editing (cut-and-paste) can corrupt the e-mail
and make it unreadable by SoftLoad. Locate the
                      original e-mail and use it.

Tape If you received your installation information on tape,
specify the location of the tape drive (device)
that contains the tape with the installation
                information.

o Type the path to the device if it is not
                    correct.

o For a drive attached to a remote workstation,
select Remote and type the host name of the
remote workstation to which the drive is
attached. If you are installing remotely,
you must have the permissions specified below
                    on the remote workstation.

                    Platform Permissions Needed

Cadence You can load products that you have not purchased,

                appropriate installation information. Contact your
                Cadence sales representative for licenses.

It might be worthwhile to wait for your license so
that you can install all prerequisite files necessary
                for the product.

Documentation You can load documentation for the products you
