IDENTIFYING THE TAPE DEVICE
===========================

Specify where the tape drive containing the installation information
(licensing information) is located.

Select When the drive is
------ ---------------------------------------------

1 Local (attached to this workstation).

2 Remote drive (attached to another workstation).

When prompted, type the host name of the workstation
to which the remote drive is attached.

If you are installing from a remote drive,
you must have the permissions specified below on
          the remote workstation.

          Platform Permissions Needed
          -------------- ------------------
          HP remsh
          All others rsh

For example, if you are installing as cdsmgr,
cdsmgr must have the correct permissions on the
          remote workstation.

NOTE: If you receive any error messages, verify your permissions on
the remote host by typing

    rsh <hostname>

If you are prompted for a password on <hostname>, you do not have
the correct permissions.

IDENTIFYING THE MOUNT POINT
===========================

The mount point is the directory in which the CD-ROM is mounted.

Note: On a Solaris, the default location is /cdrom/cdrom0, not /cdrom.

Select When the Mount Point is
------ ---------------------------------------------

   1 /cdrom

2 Not /cdrom. Type the path to the mount point,
          such as /net/cd_host/cdrom

m To return to the Main Menu.

p To change to either local or remote drive.

Why the CD-ROM is not mounted
-----------------------------

CD-ROM is not readable or cannot be found
The CD-ROM is not mounted or you do not have the
correct permissions to access the CD-ROM drive. You
might be able to access the files on the CD-ROM
locally if you can mount the remote file system to
        this workstation.

Wrong CD-ROM is mounted
If the requested CD-ROM is not available, select Skip CD
to continue the installation without installing the
products on this CD-ROM. To install the products later,
select Install Products from the Main Menu.

CD-ROM is not mounted
You must mount (and unmount if changing CD-ROMs)
the specified device path whenever you reinsert the
caddy into the drive. If you select Mount CD, you can
become root and mount the CD-ROM from the shell
        that starts.

CD-ROM files were not exported from the remote host.
If you are installing from a remote CD-ROM drive, you
must export the CD-ROM file system from the remote
        workstation.

CD-ROM drive is not available
Select Main Menu to return to the Main Menu and
specify a different CD-ROM drive than you specified
        earlier.

When you are prompted for the next CD-ROM, you have these options.

Mount CD Mount the CD-ROM from the shell SoftLoad pops up.

Main Menu Return to the SoftLoad Main Menu.
Select this if you need to use a different CD-ROM
drive than you specified earlier. Start the
            installation over again.

Skip CD Continue installing the software but do not use
this CD-ROM. Software on this CD-ROM will not
be installed. To install the software later,
you must select Install Software from the Main Menu.

MOUNTING THE CD-ROMS
--------------------

Verify that the requested CD-ROM is in the CD-ROM drive. You must
mount (and unmount if changing CD-ROMs) the /cdrom directory
whenever you reinsert the caddy into the drive.

SoftLoad provides a shell from which you can mount and
unmount the CD-ROMs.

To Mount a CD-ROM, follow these steps.
-------------------------------------

    1. Log in as root on the workstation attached to the CD-ROM drive.

    2. If you are changing CD-ROMs, unmount the CD-ROM, usually
       /cdrom.

            umount /cdrom

       The Solaris automatically unmounts CD-ROMs.

    3. If you are changing CD-ROMs, eject the CD-ROM from the
       CD-ROM drive.

* o On a Sun with an eject button or on a HP, or IBM,
            push the eject button.

o On a Sun with no eject button, type

                /bin/eject /dev/sr0

    3. Insert the requested CD-ROM.

    4. Mount the /cdrom directory.

Use the appropriate operating system command for your device,
       possibly one of those below.

       Platform Mount Command
       ------------- ------------------------------------------------------
*
       HP Series 700 /etc/mount /dev/dsk/1s0 /cdrom -o ro -t cdfs

       IBM RS/6000 /etc/mount -o ro -v cdrfs /dev/cd0 /cdrom

Solaris Automatically mounts CD-ROMs when you insert them.

       Sun /etc/mount -o ro -t hsfs /dev/sr0 /cdrom

    5. If the CD-ROM device is attached to a remote workstation,
       export the file system.

    6. Type 'exit' to exit superuser.

    7. Type 'exit' to return to the installation.

If the products do not start loading after you mount the CD-ROM,
make sure you mounted the requested CD-ROM and that you
mounted it correctly.
