BUGDATA This is a readme file describing the use of the bugdata and hdecomp utilities for Systems Management Server version 1.0. Both of these files can be placed in the path of an NT Site server or used from the current directory. However, these files require that the compression and decompression DLL's be available in the path, or in the SITE.SRV\.BIN directory of a site server. These are the SMSUNZIP.DLL and SMSZIP.DLL files. BUGDATA.EXE (currently for x86 only) is used to create a data-compressed file containing: 1. The SMS registry hive 2. All current and backup component trace logs 3. A copy of the master site control image This information can consume about 3mb os space, and will be compressed to about 150k. By just running bugdata.exe on the site server, a default file of BUGDATA.SMS will be created for you to send to PSS for analysis. For example: bugdata Once compressed, the resulting file can be decompressed using the HDECOMP.EXE program. This program reguires two arguments, first the pathname of the compressed file, and second, the location/directory to place the decompressed files (about 32 files). For example: hdecomp bugdata.sms c:\analyze\sms\
